Oh Disney World... What Happened to you?

My response is to the appeal of attractions then vs now. Which is what I thought we were talking about. The only difference I see between a Disney World that appealed to the entire family, and one that doesn't- is the heavy princess theme, instead of something like aliens or 20 thousand leagues under the sea.

The discussion that was being quoted back and forth was about "toddlerization" and age. Quoting posts that exclusively address that topic and then suddenly responding about gender while ignoring the age issue entirely isn't a logical progression of discussion.

I will politely withdraw.

Ok. I'll make it simple- As I stated, I don't think there is a toddlerization at WDW. That was the discussion, that is my opinion. I think the only change in "whole family enjoyment" from then til now is the removal of certain rides and more princess ones.

I don't know how that opinion is "illogical" or not a "progression of discussion" when it is a discussion about OPINIONS of Disney World Then vs Disney World Now.

I went a tad overboard with that claim. But for example yesterday in MK I overheard a CM tell a guest yesterday that 'she wasn't sure if Mickey's Friendship Faire was new or not'. Most aggravating was the obscene amount of Cast just doing the bare minimum. Very little "hellos", "have a nice days", and lots of frowns, cast standing behind registers instead of walking around shops recovering etc. Maybe I'm just too happy and expect others to be the same?? Maybe my expectations are too high?

"too happy"

One of the things I loath about the current WDW is how everything has been dumbed down and toddlerized. WDW didn't used to be all about the children. It used to be a classy well rounded resort. Now it is Legoland on steroids. Trading out the Jules Verne/Robin Williams Timekeeper for cartoon characters. Trading Alien Attack for a cartoon character. Losing 20K Leagues to eventually be replaced by cartoon characters. Replacing the actual history of Norway with cartoon characters. Replacing the science of energy with comic book characters. Now WDW's target demo is just arrested development adults with kids under 7.

Cartoon characters have no integrity.

I really don't think Pirates will move. The amount of excavation that it will require is ridiculous. The whole ride is built on the first level of MK. I don't know what the deal is utilildors under Tom Sawyer Island, but the work required for something unnecessary seems a little ridiculous.
Also, if you're gonna do that, why not fill in RoA
why would they need to do any evacuation ? They would just gut the old ride and put in a new dark ride , it can even be a boat ride if they want . For the island they would just put up a building with a façade and build the ride inside that.

The foot print for pirates is tiny compared to the other ones and it could benfit from getting a new larger area

I don't mean to bring back the subject Guardians taking over Tower of Terror, but this video is something to see. Here, Tony Goldmark, better known as Some Jerk with a Camera, discusses the recent announcement of Mission: BREAKOUT replacing Tower of Terror, but mainly discusses the extreme backlash the concept has received (particularly from millennial park-goers) and the hypocrisy/entitlement issues that get involved with theme park geeks and their favorite rides.

What are you guys' two-cents on this? Do you agree with his stance?

....Replacing the science of energy with comic book characters.....

I couldn't fault your other comparisons (although I disagree with your overall assessment). But I don't understand this one. The original energy show was of course much more serious and heavy handed. But how is putting Ellen and Bill Nye in a reduction to comic book characters?

They are talking about replacing Bill, Ellen, and Stupid Judy with Rocket, Groot, Drax, Gamera, and Starlord.

Not really, to me he misses the point. I know for me, I want the parks to always be evolving and giving me new things. But I want them to do it with the integrity to theme that they once had. Not just pick an IP and throw it where ever would be the cheapest and easiest. Showing people who are so stupid as to say marvel isn't Disney and that Twilight zone is doesn't help your point. Yea we all know that there are dumb people on the internet. If this ride was announced as a new ride, in a new area that is Marvel themed, with a new ride system, I would guaranty people wouldn't have a problem. The criticism of this is well justified in my eyes.

This interview of former Disneyland Imagineer Rolly Crump comes to mind. Where he compares Disneyland to Walt Disney Worldhttp://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/aug/10/disney-imagineer-rolly-crump-profile/

This line caught my attention though

"Disneyland hugs you but this park didn’t,” he said of Florida’s Magic Kingdom. “They lost that love and caring. It wasn’t Disney anymore. What we were left with was a dog’s breakfast.”
