This summer the Odyssey dining area has been used for a World Cup showcase area. But what about when the World cup is over? Will the Odyssey be up for business again? Tell me what you think!

Hmmmm... I see the North American Tiddlywinks Assn. is holding their World Championship later this year. Maybe Disney will open Odyssey for that too....

That will hold my interest as much as the World Cup did.

But about Odyssey .... Its a shame Disney has so many empty buildings that arent being utilized. With the number of guests looking for something to do, they could come up with something worthwhile that would get the crowds flowing into those buildings.

As much as I would like to see it turned into a TS restaurant the answer is - NO more than likely not! It will probably continue to be used for Flower & Garden, Food & Wine Festival demonstrations, special events etc etc. There are a lot of dining options all over Epcot so for the Mouse to reopen an old CS option that was unpopular to begin with is far fetched.

it is also in an odd location for a CS. For a TS, it is OK- you make a reservation and it becomes a "destination". But for a CS, that many times relys on foot traffic (hey, this is close by, lets eat here" Oddessy is out of the way.

I wonder if the kitchen area in there is in operating order. I know they host some events there that are catered, but are the meals hauled in from elsewhere or cooked on site?

While it may not be open in the sense that you can just walk in and get a meal, they definitely use it pretty frequently. Lots of special events and functions go on in there. I attended a YES course by Crayola there years ago, and most trips I see functions going on.

It would be awesome as a "pop-up" TS - Have a new and inventive chef rent the place out 6 months of the year - make crazy, new dishes then close for a new chef and new menu. Like a gastropub in the summer hosted by famous chef A then a molecular gastronomy place hosted by famous chef B. It would keep a buzz going with crowds and keep Epcot's food scene from going stale. If they truly need the place for F&W then they could just not rent the place for that time period.
