The Odyssey use to be a quick food center. It closed about 5-7 years ago. The park uses it now for special events. Example food and wine festival.

Yep...its a prime location that sits empty 99.9% of the year...and it is used for CM events once in awhile.....

IMO....what a waste of space, it has a lot of potential... :)

I always thought it would be nice if they made it a nice table service restaurant. After all, Future World only has the Living Seas restaurant for table service. I know they'll never do this, but it would be nice.

My opinion is this...Why would you need another table service restaurant in Future World when you've got so many in the World Showcase??? I would much rather experience international cuisine anyways.

This topic has been discussed at length previously on this board...Odyssey is NOT a waste of space, it does NOT sit empty. It is used OFTEN for convention dining and special events. It is very useful and accomadating the large groups that want to have group functions in the park. Just because the area is not open to day guests does not mean it is useless, just different.

I'll step down from my soapbox, now.

One, point taken. I forgot about Garden Grill. However, I don't like it as much now that it is family style IMHO. Odyssey could be a nice normal table service place that would not be family style (and preferrably a little cheaper than Coral Reef.

Two, I am well aware of the numerous places in World Showcase. Disney World is not a place, though, that would have a problem adding yet another restaurant. They could make it more of an American style sit down (the American Adventure restaurant is only counter service and does not have a huge selection).

Three, while it is used as a convention dining place, I would like to know what the percentage of time it is actually used is. If it were an open table service restaurant, they could still close it to the public as necessary when needed for convention use.

No matter what, the place is in disrepair in terms of outside appearance. Even if they never do anything with it other than the convention dining, it would be nice if they cleaned it up on the outside.

My Bad

Whoo...sorry. Just re-read what I wrote...it did come across pretty harsh. MY BAD!

What I mean to say is that the park needs space like Odyssey. Convention groups like to have functions in the parks...how cool would it be to finish your business meeting and then stumble out to Mexico for margaritas! The space is useful.

That being said, I agree the outside looks pretty lame...maybe even just an updated paint job would help!!

No Prob :)

What I ment, as well, is that...ok...yes...for the average day guest...we think it sits empty..... I would think Disney would want to throw a gift shop or something in there to generate some revenue out of that building ;)

But.....I think its cool that CM's get to use it for there events and such :)
