Odd Question for College Program participants.

I have a very odd, very specific question for those who have participated in the College Program at Disney World. If this is the wrong place to ask, please feel free to move the thread. :)

I am wondering if any CP participants here on the site went to Full Sail University in Winter Park?

I am asking because the CP has been a goal of mine for a while, and Full Sail is where I am eying for school, but Full Sail is a full degree in a year and a half, so it's intensive, and I doubt I'd be able to take time away from school to do the CP. The CP site says you can do it after you graduate if you apply and are interviewed while still in school, and I want to see if anyone can tell me about their experiences with that.

This could be widened to say any school that has an intense, faster-paced course set-up too.

I typed CP a lot in this post :) Thanks for any help you may or may not be able to give me.

I have avfriend who goes to full-sail... Trust me u won't have the time. Their school schedule or class assignments are random. U may have a class start at 1am or have to be at shoots for hours or overnight. U just won't have the time while u r in school.

Yeah, I know lots of people that did it the first summer after they graduated. Honestly, unless you're getting a lot of credit, I would think that's the way to go, anyway. In your case, where you won't have time, it definitely makes sense.

Whenever your last semester is, do the applications and interviews and such, and plan to go down after. So, like, if you'll graduate in the spring, plan to do a fall program (or fall advantage, I'd suggest). And if you're going to graduate in the winter, plan to do a spring program. Nothing to worry about.

Also, it's fun and worth it.

You can definitely do it after you graduate, I think it has to be within six months.

Be careful about Full Sail, really look into whatever program you want to go for. I thought that was where I wanted to go too but the more I looked into it the worse it looked. I don't want to say anything bad about it because Im sure many people have gone and had great experiences and have decent jobs, but just take some time and research the school and program that's all I'll say.

I second this. Full Sail is considered by many to actually be a scam, offering promises that there is no way can be kept, getting students in WAY over their head in terms of student loans, not being recognized by true universities so credits usually won't transfer if a student decides to, etc. It is a for-profit school, a type of school that has recently come under fire by many states and educators and politicians. I am sure some people have great experiences there, but from what I have heard most students end up regretting going there. Just make sure you do A LOT of thorough research on any school you think you might want to go to. Good luck!

I have a friend who goes there and is busy as all get out. Like others have said, you will not have any time while attending to do a CP more than most likely. Wait till after you graduate i'd say.

My friend loves it at Full Sail as well. He had no motivation for anything before that and now he goes to school 60hrs a weeks sometimes and is doing great. I've visited the school with him before and it looks like such an amazing place

There are definite advantages to starting your CP program after you graduate. If you find you like working at Disney then its much easier for you to extend your program because you have no school requiring you to go back. I know a few people who have also applied to do a Professional Internship immediately after their CP so the timing works out well for that too.

You only have to be enrolled in one college class to apply for the program, so you can definitely do the program after you graduate, just make sure to apply during your last semester for the next semester. I know people that have taken one or two credit classes at their community college just so they can do the program.

Thanks for the tips guys. I know that Full Sail is far more intense than most schools, and I haven't fully decided on it. The only thing it has going for it really is that's is cheaper than schools offering similar courses in my area of New England. Also, moving to the Orlando area offers it's own rewards, ehem. ;)

Either way, I intend to do the College Program (if they'll have me) and I am more excited to do that than I am actual school work.
