odd jungle cruise experience

on new years eve i was at MK with a few of my friends and we decided to take a ride on the jungle cruise. it was around 11:00 pm or so and there were only about 7 total passengers on our boat. anyways, as we were going along i noticed our guide wasnt saying anything, but i just assumed he didnt have any material for the first part of the ride. he ended up not saying a thing the whole time. he kept the boat going full throttle and didnt say a word. it was bizarre and awkward, but in a way very funny. altho i feel bad for two of my friends who had never ridden it before.

anyone ever experienced anything like this?

That is odd. You're right, it's kind of funny if you've been on it many times, but what about the people who haven't? They must've thought that it was the most pointless ride they've ever been on.

He was probably having an off day or time. Still not really a fun experience as a guest. The funny thing though is that the only thing the Skippers HAVE to say during the cruise is safety information as guests get in and out of the boat. Obviously the jokes are an important part of the ride and managers will get on Skippers who don't do jokes, but according to guidelines nothing has to be said during the trip except saftey info.

the only comment he made was a somewhat rude one to a guy who hit his head getting off the boat. he didnt even make a funny comment about watching your head!

anyways, after the ride i asked a CM working at the entrance to the ride and she said that our skipper was usually one of the best and was really confused when we said he didnt say a word.

maybe he and another CM thought it would be really funny to be completely silent. in fact, if i was working the ride on a slow night, i could see myself doing something random like that just for kicks.

This is more commonly known as a "Sights and Sounds Tour" as that's all you get. I don't find those funny at all. Sorry to tell you, but there is only one line in the spiel that resembles a sefety line and it's not required. All the safety info needed is on the signs. And yes, skippers HAVE to spiel, it is required. Did you remember who your skipper was or what they looked like?

I had one of the new Brazillian skippers the other night. He knew his lines well, and told the jokes as he should have... but his heavy accent left people wondering what the hell he was saying. Some people were mad, but I found it extremely entertaining. Then again, I was having a dole whip and we all know that you can't be mad if you have a Dole Whip in your hand.

Wow, they're getting Brazilian CPs on Jungle Cruise? That's new... On my group, the ones that were scheduler for attractions didn't get something as "interactive" as the Cruise, it was usually Fantasyland and the like.

Two years ago we rode the JC very late and there were only the 6 of us on the boat. When our skipper realized we knew the spiel as well as her, she asked if any of us wanted to drive the boat. We all did then she sat with us and showed us hidden Mickey's along the cruise. When we returned to the dock, she said we would be riding with her again and we got a second cruise with more CM stories. Skipper Lorena is our fav!!!

Last year, when we went on jungle cruise we got a cast member training for HKDL. She did know her lines, and was really (really) excited throughout it. The only thing was that it was sometimes very hard to understand what she was saying.

we had a really moany guide in dec -- and dragged out every line -- WAS AWESOME -- one of the 2 most memorable rides ever -- don't remember the name -- but he was GREAT. "thanks for riding the world famous jungle cruise-- please come back and see us -- i'll be back every ten minutes -- for the rest of my life ----" Absolutely fantastic......

funniest line

"they make me say these jokes"

Request Ad-Lib operations and you could work anywhere from: HM, HOP, JC, Pirates, etc etc. That's my "dream" role at Disney. I worked a lot of Overtime doing Ad-Lib PAC (parade audience control) shifts when i was a CM.

They do that? Those are the two attractions I want to be a Cast Member for. It'd be great if I got a job rotating in those rides. :D

The funniest line I ever heard for the Jungle Cruise was this man who was funny as hell... He said " Parents keep on eye on your kids, because if they get lost they officially become Disney property and thats what happened to me... but its not that bad I started out in its a Small World sometimes i was the Indian, sometimes the Cowboy and sometimes the Hula girl... but we dont talk about that one that much" Momentary pause everyone on the boat looks at eachother and then this roar of laughter exploded from the boat!!! And we didnt stop laughing till we got to the dock... He was the best skipper I have ever had.
