I found the email extremely odd, but I guess it's just business. Anyhow, if anyone would like to see the actual email, I have a pdf that I made of the body of the email. I can email it to you if you PM me and ask.

My guess is that Universal is paying Disney's Online Unit to advertize as one of their sponsors. Obviously Universal is trying to get some of Disney's customers, and this is just a blatent attempt to do just that.

Of course, a couple of blatent contradictions/oddities stand out.
The fact that Universal has to resort to SpamMail to Disney Customers is funny, considering that would definetly turn me off to a company.

But what stands out the most is why Disney would accept Universal as a sponsor, aside from the fact that Universal's money is just as green as everyone else's. I hope they charged an arm and a leg for it....

.....Or it just could be part of Disney's grand scheme to rid Florida of Universal Studios. (Humor)

I get those too -a lot! and sometimes I have received from others because "When you registered at Disney Online, you asked to receive information from our sponsors." It´s very weird indeed that they have Universal as one of them!

This is true. Keep in mind that some of this advertising is automated and could have slipped by the Disney.com admins....just a possibility if someone was being lazy.

More likely is that Disney have outsourced the service or supplied the name to an external, but approved, email advertising supplier and they will advertise to anyone who is willing to pay.

Thing is that you can't call it SPAM if you checked the box to recieve such emails when you registered.

I swear I don´t remember being so dumb when registering! (but of course, being Disney news, I might have fallen for it) :brick:

LOL! No no no! I didn´t mean it like that! I called those emails "spam" in my first post, so I thought Catch22´s post was directed to me. If you like receiving them, I´m happy for you. I just don´t like them, and they fill up my email account. :animwink:
