October at WDW

So, the DW and I decided that a September trip wasn't happening, but that maybe October 20-25 could be possible. We were going to go Sep 1-6 to take advantage of free dining, but we couldn't pull it off. For those of you who have been toward the end of October, what deals, if any, are there to take advantage of? Also, are the crowds thinned out at that time of year? Thanks in advance.

Last year, free dining was offered throughout the month of October, though this year Disney hasn't exactly been following the trends of past years' offers. We went the last week of October in '07,'08, and '09. In 2007, we thought the crowds were very low, but due to the increasing popularity of the MNSSHP, the crowds increased every year. We went the week before Christmas last year for the first time, and I thought the crowds were slightly above Halloween levels. October is a great time of year to visit, however, and with some planning, you should have no problems with the crowds. But it won't compare with September, that's for sure.

October use to be pretty empty years ago, but I don't know now. We have talked about going around halloween one year, but always end up going the beginning of December and then that is crowded now. GO LSU!!! YEA!!!

We went the third week in October in 2009 and loved it. The weather was lovely, the crowds were relatively low, and we were able to attend both MNSSHP and the F&W Festival. Don't know if it gets more crowded closer to Halloween though.

October is a lovely time to visit, especially for two adults. The weather is cooler (shorts during the day, jeans/hoodie at night), and you have the Food and Wine Festival in full swing at Epcot. If you're so inclined, you can also go to MNSSHP.

I love visiting in October.

We went last year October 6th -13th and when we first booked (months and months in advance) the free-dining was not offered..It was not until about two months before our trip did they add the dates..all we had to do was call Disney and they adjusted the price of our vacation..the crowds were minimal except for Epcot since it was the Food and Wine Festival and we did notice it started to get more and more crowded as the 11th approached, Columbus day..This year we are doing a Christmas/New Years vacation but have already said after this trip we are only ever going back during October :D
