So we have pretty much decided to set the dates of Oct. 14-21st 2011 in stone for our next Disney trip. We have never been in October and was just going to see if anyone had any unique tips, tricks or warnings for us going at that time of the year. Thanks in advance!! I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!:sohappy:

I've been at that time of year, and have nothing but good things to say.

Weather can be variable--you might be in the 60's or you might be in the 90's. Or both in one trip as happened to us last year. One day at Blizzard Beach, 94 degrees, three days later, 58 at rope drop at MK.

Crowds are light, very manageable. Great time to go, I was glad I pulled the kids from school for a few days, so we could really enjoy things.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary--book it! Really fun. Great parade, villain show, candy, great atmosphere.

Enjoy!

Thanks! Is Mickey's Not-So-Scary worth it if you don't have kids? I would love to see the parade but I know that a large chunk of it is aimed strictly at the younger crowd.

Well, I have kids so might not be the best person to ask. They absolutely loved the candy.

For myself--as a Disney nut--it was a great chance to see some things that you can't otherwise, and I really enjoyed it.

The parade--very fun and unique, great music.

The villians show at the castle. Awesome show. Cute girls in vampire outfits.

The general vibe was very festive and fun, different lighting, just fun to be there.

The number one thing was the Hallowishes fireworks show, though. Best fireworks show I've seen in MK--with the perimiter fireworks and different lighting effects, it's worth it just to see this show.

That's my take!

Mid October is our favorite time. Weather is usually great. This past Oct we didn't see one second of rain.
Crowds are pretty light. It is a wonderful time to go.

We've done the party three times without the candy. Our kid is 17 and we love the party. The parade and fireworks. The party is so full of families with little kids trick-or-treating that the attractions (coasters) are walk-on. FL can get really crowded and dark so you really have to watch out for strollers and little kids. The costumes are very cute too.

That's the week we went in 2009, and it was fabulous! Delightful weather, a tad on the warm side a few days. MNSSHP was loads of fun. Our family of 4 dressed in coordinated costumes (see my pics) and had a blast. Even if you don't have kids, it's worthwhile, I'd say. How often do you have a chance to dress in costume as adults? Adults can get candy just like the kids. The Boo To You parade was my favorite. The Hallowishes fireworks were great. If you arrive early at 4pm, you get a solid 8 hours in the parks, and there were very short lines for all the rides.

Also in October is the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. We adored that. If you get the Dining Plan, you can use your snack credits to buy things at the festival booths. Yum!

Crowds were very low except on the weekends, and the longest wait we had anywhere was about 20-30 minutes, but was often much less. I highly recommend this time of year.

October is such a great month to to go... We were there around the same time you are going a few years back and it was wonderful! Crowds are VERY managable and the weather is comfortable! I highly recommend buying tickets to MNSSHP. Definitely worth the extra $$$ to attend the party! Enjoy! We are heading back in September and CAN't wait to go back! :sohappy:

Oct. a great month for WDW

Visiting WDW during the month of October is fantastic. Do take in MNSSHP, it's the best in my opinion. A great parade, plenty of trick or treating, and kids and some adults in costume (if you so desire). Weather is usually, good. Sooooo, enjoy. :ROFLOL: :sohappy:

Shees ... I've been in all different seasons to WDW and I find October to still be way to humid for me.

We took my son last October almost the same dates as you and as soon as we stepped out of the cabin BAM! that central Florida humidity hit us hard.

Other than that, it's a great time to go. Not to crowded, it's decorated for Halloween.

You'll have a great time.

Cheers!
