So glad i asked you....now I'm zero worried! !!:)

Please don't worry at all about this. Some parts of the US (parts of the South in particular) have lower breastfeeding rates than the rest of the country and I think because of that there's some occasional outspoken backlash towards those who nurse in public without a cover. I can assure you that this is not the majority of people and, as others point out, are legally permitted to nurse wherever and however you would like to. I nursed my 3 month old in disney constantly and everywhere without a cover and no one so much as batted an eye lash at me. I did tend to try to find out of the way, quiet, locations but that was for my and my baby's comfort, not anyone else's. I'm currently nursing my 15 month old 4-6 times a day and I wouldn't think twice about continuing that in WDW, and very well may when we visit next if she's still nursing at 22 months.

If you want quiet locations the baby care centers have nursing rooms and there's tons of great quiet spots all over the parks. Enjoy!

This is a..... controversial topic on the boards. It's most likely going to go down the drain with arguments and hatred until a locked thread. Just going by the history of this place.

Only because we mothers are sick and tired of being upbraided by ignorant people for feeding our nursing children in public. I could say more, but this really isn't the best place to have that discussion. Let me just say that NO nursing mother should be subject to any form of harassment for feeding her nursing child in public. I think they should be applauded. I was amazed at the number of women I know who bottle fed their infants. And they didn't have a lot of money and formula isn't cheap - but it's pushed by some pediatricians because the formula companies (like the drug companies) give them samples.

Sorry, this is a hot topic for me. I spent several years working on a grant from one of the largest health care philanthropies in the U.S. to study and try to lower the infant mortality rate in the South. And one of the things we looked at was breast feeding rates vs. formula feeding rates. The states awarded the grants we worked with are some of the poorest in the country - West Virginia, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi and Puerto Rico (yes, I know, it's not a state - but it has a very high infant mortality rate). We worked closely with the public health offices in those states. And were shocked (and sadden) to discover that there were still negative messages from health care professionals about breast feeding to new mothers. Sorry, I will now climb down from my soapbox.

Just a small bit of advice to add. It might be helpful to know that you will be much more towards the upper range of breastfeeding age in the US as compared to most of the rest of the world. I don't know exactly how or when it would come up, but I thought it might help to be aware. With some super quick googling, it seems that only 10% of US moms are still breastfeeding at 18 months. People might be surprised if they even notice, or if it comes up, but I doubt people will be rude. Even if you do run into a jerk, the Florida law is very clear that you can breastfeed anywhere that you are otherwise allowed to be.

I'm surprised the amount is even as high as 10% in the US.

Okay, I already know what's going to happen, but here goes. I have friends who are breadtfeeding, but who wouldn't have their entire breast out when feeding. To them, it would be like making out in public, not necessarily wrong, but certainly worth a few looks. There are always going to be people who are uncomfortable with seeing someone's entire breast out, especially families with young children. You will always get looks even if no one says anything. The ultimate decision will be if you care if you get looks.
