I need your advice again
i am european and this will be my first time in the US.
I'm still breast feeding my third child who is a year and a half.
Is it common to do this in public? ??here i just do it all the time but things are maybe different in the States? ?
Thanks and sorry if this is a delicate topic...

It is perfectly fine but you will get looks as for some it is not common practice. However each park has many quieter spots where you can get a little more privacy. But again that is completely up to you.

I am currently nursing my ten month old, first trip was at 7 months old. I nursed him at all of the parks, as well as Disney springs. I just brought a cover up to throw over my shoulder (not babies head...way too hot for that!) and had no problems at all. You may get a few looks from people, but you're feeding your child, so nurse on mama they will get over it! Also, if you prefer a quiet place (or need a nap for yourself ) the baby care centers are wonderful and have a nursing room with rocking chairs. I truly hope you have no issues, I wish breastfeeding were as normal and accepted here as it is in Europe!

Hello, I am currently nursing my 6th child and will be at WDW in a few weeks. I have nursed all of my babies in the parks with no problem. If was ever given any looks by anyone, I didn't notice. I have nursed on many attractions, Space Ship Earth, The Great Movie Ride, Philharmagic and Pirates are long enough that by the time we exit the ride baby is finished eating.
I have also nursed in many restruants and was never once asked by a Cast Member to leave. In fact I had one kind server who took my food back and re heated so I could have a warm meal once baby was finished.
Just so you know, any place you are legally allowed to be in the USA you are allowed to be there nursing. For example you are allowed to nurse in Magic Kingdom because you are legally allowed to be there. But you may not nurse in a back stage/off limits/behind the scenes area inside Magic Kingdome because you are not allowed to be there period.
There are baby care centers located with on the parks. The parks are so big it is real silly to walk all the way to one just to nurse. For example if you are in the Canada section of EPCOT you have a 20min walk to the baby care center in EPCOT.
Nursing is becoming the norm in the US some women do use a nursing cover or hooter hider. I have used these before, especially with a baby who can be easily distracted. But some babies hate them and they come more of a hassle to use. You by no means have to use any kind of blanket or cover, do what has been working for you. I think you will find that WDW is an easy place to breastfeed in.
Also, nice work for nursing past a year!

Do what you are comfortable with and don't worry about people that have problems with it.

Agree with everything kristamouse said.

I breastfed until 15 months. :) My baby hated the cover so I gave up using it after a while. No one ever said anything to me.

Thanks for all the replies!
Baby hates covers. So i'll just do the natural thing to do:)
Sorry I didn't mean to imply that a cover was necessary in my previous post! It absolutely isn't, most times my little one won't stand for it either (and nothing wrong with that). I should have included that in my first post. I hope your trip is magical!

I nursed my little guy at the world when we went. He was 28 months old at the time. Nobody really seemed to notice or care. And he was having fun and was distracted by all the interesting things to see that he nursed less than at home anyway.
You'll be fine. The more people see normal breastfeeding mamas and babies, the more normal it will be to see them. And all the Cast will be great. They are generally very well trained.

Enjoy your trip!

Dang it, I keep checking this thread for sensation, for somebody to come in with guns blazing against breastfeeding (pref after having just stumbled out drunk from a Hooters).

Funny, I'm doing the same thing. For some reason I want to hear that someone finds it obscene or wrong and that breastfeeding should be done in private. It would allow me some fun.

Like everyone else said, feel free to nurse when your baby needs to be fed. And don't let anyone tell you to go into a rest room - would THEY want to eat their meal in a public restroom?

Americans need to get over the whole "OMG, she exposed her breast" issue. Nursing is the best thing for both mom and baby. It's free, readily available, correct temperature and hands down the best nutrition. Not to mention the whole bonding thing, too. I nursed and didn't give a flip what people may have thought. I did my best to be as discrete as possible, but would people rather hear a baby crying because she/he is hungry? Many employers, like mine, now have nursing rooms to accommodate nursing mothers with comfortable seating, a refrigerator (if you have to pump during the day) to store breast milk, etc.

Give it time.

It appears I have no choice but to take one for the team. So here goes...

*Ahem* (Step back folks)

How DARE you perform such an unethical act of unmoral disgusting and unmoral act of unethics!!!! (Inserted for effect: :mad::mad: Better add one more to show that I mean business: ). This is an atrocity to a place of family environment & such with kids and all that.
I for one am ashamed to be seen around such behavior of.....okay, cannot pull this one off with a straight face.

Carry on, feed your baby, don't worry about what others think, and enjoy life!

Haha. But there are people in this country who truly believe what you posted in jest. Sad. All we moms are doing is feeding our children of that age the way nature intended.
