Now your thoughts on All Star Movies Resort

I was was wondering your thoughts on the All Star Movies Resort Vs. Coronado Springs resort (age old Value vs Moderate resort debate). Can anyone tell me the ups and downs, pros and cons, and tell me what you think in general about the two.

I have stayed at both of these resorts The answer is Coronado.....hands down!!!!! It isnt a guess for me the All Stars are nice clean and very affordable, but I find all the kids that are usually at that resort not near restful enough for me while I am on vacation. My DF( Dear Friend) Richie and I decided on our last trip in December that in the future it will be Moderates or better. We are getting old (   ) and require peace and quiet at night. I wont even go into the rapping on my door at 4:30 in the am!! The Manager and staff were great about it the following day but the damamge was already done. In addition if you plan on using the resort amenities you will find many more of them in the Moderates. If you want a tough call, Choose between the Carribean and the Coronado. Or better yet go for the Port Orleans, Riverside!!! That one is my absolute favorite of all of the Moderates. Belle

If it's just my family going we are in love with POR (moderate). We stayed at the Value resorts (mostly movies) and there is so much more traffic and noise that at POR. Transportation seems to be better, usually do not have to wait as long to get on a bus going back to the resorts. This has nothing to do with actual bus service, just (I believe) the amount of folks that have to be moved. The values are not bad and yes I would stay there again, but like Belle I prefer quitier confines of POR.

what age group is going?
The kids of course will find All Stars incredible, however, if you are older, or prefer a less Kid themed resort than avoid the All Stars.
I am 30 w/2 daughters and tag along nieces/nephews.
If money isn't a factor then splurge, however, if money would shorten the trip, or you are like us and not at the resort itself all that often then go to the ASM.
We never had a wait more than 10 mins. for any busses even at MK closing time.

Both Resorts are great; you get what you pay for; for more money, you get a better pool, better theming, more restaurants, boat rentals, and, uh...more walking...(better exercise):)

I believe there are only 4 for the resort. They arent exactly close but I think the previous post referred to the distance around the resort itself, not to the busstops. It is correct though it is a large resort with a great deal of walking. Belle

Hey!
Yes, I have stayed at both of resorts myself, and for being 15 years old I will let yah know what I think of them. First of all if you are going to stay at one, pick the Coronado. The All Star ones are cheap and I am not impressed. It took us 10 - 15 minutes to get from the main office to our hotel door. That is rediculous. So please stay at the Coronado!lol ºoº

i definately find the moderate resorts better.. ive stayed at every allstar i think.. and i do find less people, better check in procedures, and just overall better quality at the moderate ones as u would expect for paying more per night.. You get the advantage of a sit down restaruant at the moderates in some i think vs none at the all stars.. also in the summer u get alot of tour groups that stay there..

but for as much as ur at the hotel if budget is a concern then go allstar..

I also have stayed at both resorts. Either was is nice since you are at WDW world.:sohappy: But if I had to chose and you can affort to spend a little more cash. Stay at Coronado Springs.:)

To go one step further. I once again agree with Belle. If you want a better choice I would go to with Port Orleans Riverside or Frenchquarter. They are the same price.!

11 days and counting...

I have stayed at All Star Sports and really thought the resort was nice, especially for the price. My kids loved the arcade!
I think the resort was quiet. We stayed in the basketball section. Away from the pools.
I have also stayed at a moderate resort, Dixie. It was clearly an upgrade.
but if money is an issue than all star sports is the way to go!

I'm trying to convince my husband to upgrade on our next trip to AKL. I know it's a lot more money. Maybe I'll suggest saying there for just 2 nights of the 5 we'll be there?

I have stayed at All Star Movies twice. I have enjoyed it both times. My daughter and I stayed there in Sept. for 10 days. My rational was this, we could have stayed in a moderate, and if it had been entirely my decision, we probably would have. However, I think a 6 year old is going to find the All Star resorts to be a little more exciting and interesting. Next time we take an extended trip in a couple of years, we will probably stay at a moderate or deluxe, just for a change of pace. Really, if you think in terms of motels most people are used to staying at such as Holiday Inns, Days Inns, etc., the All Stars are a step above them. It really just depends on what you are looking for. We just wanted a place to sleep, swim, and eat sometimes.

You get what you pay for

The very first time my wife, son and I went to WDW we stayed at the ASM resort (month was September, year 2001). If you have children, they will love it, If YOU like lots of action and people (lots of people stay at the value resorts because they are cheaper) you will like it. The rooms are not any bigger than the others look at the links below.

Value

Moderate

If you plan on living in your room and not going to the parks go to a expensive resort, otherwise (the normal person) you will be spending your time in the parks.

Just my 2 cents. Oh we like to stay at the CBR for the water mice and smaller pools.

To add to my other post

We used the WDW transportation buses once from the ASM resort and decided from that point on NEVER EVER TO USE WDW BUSSES AGAIN. We had to wait 2 hours to get on a bus back from the Fantasmic show. Since you get free parking at WDW if you stay at a resort we drive everywhere, it is faster and to our schedule. As far as dining, Kissimee is only a 5 minute drive from WDW, and the choice of food in Kissimee is better and cheaper than on the WDW resort. Honestly it is worth going to Benningans, O'chalies, etc... in Kissimee. Another thing is, if you fly in to Orlando and are getting a rental car head south and follow bogey creek road (pay no tolls), It will take you right to Kissimee and there is super walmart there. Stop and pick up a $3.00 cooler for your room for cold drinks. Then continue on and it takes you right onto the WDW property. The first trip to WDW we stayed on property until are 4th day, we spent on food alone in those four day $700.00. The second trip after we knew about Kissimmee we spent $370.00 on food for all 8 days.

Careful Creek Wayne someone will accuse you of being in my "fan club" again!!!
As far as the bus transport, while I dont doubt you DDrongowski, I honestly cant say that I have had that experience. Last May I went with my crowd and the two young ladies who went ALWAYS rent a car so me and my buddy Richie, went in with them on the car. yes it is absolutely faser to get from park to park, however as we usually pick one park for the day and stay there that isnt much of an issue. I found though that by driving to the parking lots we invariably walked MORE than if we had taken the bus from the resort. In December we rented a car again as we had some off property items to attend to or else we wouldnt have spent the money. Just as a comparison, we spent $150 for a rental car (with a good discount mind you!) compared to $28.00 Mears ride to and from! Mears can be time consuming though depending on your driver. In most cases in December we would drive over to PO Riverside, have breakfast at Boatwright's and then hop on a bus to a park!! just my experience though!! Belle

I totally agree. Spend your time at the resort , spend your money at the resort.
:D

Spend your time at the parks, spend your money at the parks.:)

We spent our money at the park, AP's etc. So we stayed at the Movies. We were there Dec.29th-Jan. 5th. Third floor Dalmations One.

It was QUIET. We are older. No young kids with us. But it was really very quiet.

Another floor or the middle of summer might have been a totally different story.

Only drawback to the Movies is that except for the MK bus you share with the other two AS's and they are picked up first.

Longest wait, 25 minutes in the New Years eve Monsoons.
