Now that Star Wars is taking off, what's next?

I can't stand this entire superhero stuff so I would rather appreciate an Indiana Jones attraction, either in the MK (Adventureland like in DL) or in DHS as part of an only slightly larger Indiana Jones sub-land, an entire Indiana Jones Land is too much IMHO, considering the substantially smaller impact of the franchise in pop culture compared to Star Wars. And this attraction is already existing, I have no problems with clone rides whatsoever so please bring a clone of the IJA to WDW, same ride track layout, same technology but perhaps in a different setting however, not Asian like in DL but either the TDS version in South America or an unique Egyptian version for WDW.

I think a sub land would be great, keep an updated stunt show, add a shop and restaurant with a tiny bit of streetmosphere then finish it off with a new ride, although not a exact clone of the other Indy rides.

The one thing I have realized in my short time on the forum is that you shouldn't post when you are half awake on a Monday morning before your first cup of coffee.
I've learned never to start my own post on here period and I avoid replying a lot of the time too. I've seen several Disney forums and this one, by far, takes the cake for people attacking others and being generally rude to each other.
On behalf of all the others, I apologize for them. There's a million and three different "topics" under which to post threads and I feel this one fits just as well here as it would anywhere else.

In some ways it always has been. Disney didn't own Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or the Muppets when DHS opened. And half of GMR was licensed.

Well, much of GMR was MGM.. who partnered in the park. But yeah, good point.
Well not really. MGM-branded films which by that point (1988/89) were owned by Warner Bros thanks to Ted Turner, along with Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros-produced films, United Artists, Lucasfilm, and Disney films.

Update: Sorry, went and fact-checked. Turner was acquired by Time Warner in 1996.

Agreed.

I'd love to see this ride system somewhere in WDW, and I definitely want to see more Indiana Jones presence in the parks. Heck, the Disneyland ride is still one of their most popular attractions!
You know what would be awesome? An Indiana Jones themed ride using the Shanghai Pirates ride system! One can dream right?

But seriously I would really like to know if there have been any proposals to bring this ride system to the U.S. parks.

I want to know - assuming Galaxy's Edge is as successful as pretty much everyone predicts - where the NEXT Star Wars land at WDW will be. This land seems to be a Tatooine/Naboo type of mashup, but Star Wars has a pretty much infinite array of planets and settings so they could easily build many of these. A Coruscant-type land in particular would be stunning.

Anyway, I know Galaxy's Edge won't open for another couple of years, but - like Potter - I doubt land one will be the only one they build. I don't know where they'd have room for it in Disneyland, but in WDW would it be in DHS as well, AK, MK, *shudder* Epcot, or the mythical 5th gate?

I just always go back to the map. Disney has so much land to work with in Florida. It's amazing just to imagine what kind of expansion they could do.

I enjoy SW and understand how huge and successful it is, but I don't need it in multiple parks. I don't need this turning into Star Wars World.

is there any chance they'll bring back the theme of "celebrating Hollywood history" in the park when they shut down things taken over by Star Wars that aren't in close proximity to where SWL is situated? (such as Launch Bay in Animation Courtyard or shops taken over with Star Wars merchandise?)

gradually losing this theme stings a little more than losing GMR. The backlot tour and AFI museum are gone. They got rid of the Streets of America and my favorite spot with the Singin' in the Rain lamppost photo opp went with it. They did off with Sid Canhuenga's hollywood memorabilia shop and turned it into a shop for photopass services (of course when I'm at the age when I make money, the memorabilia shop is gone...). The temporary replacement was the AFI museum shop, which they designated as the new spot to sell the merch from Sid's, but now that's gone with no replacement. :(

With the closing of GMR, this theme is now limited to decor in gift shops (such as the wall hangings in Sid's and Celebrity 5 and 10)
They are going to keep the Chinese theater facade, reportedly, and I assume the handprints too (if those go I'll definitely be upset), but I'm sure they're not going to keep the music loop with classic movie scores

Hey MisterPenguin! I was watching a youtube video for DSNY and they gave you a credit for the stuff you posted recently on here. Did you see it?

Great job on that too!

Basically, this is no longer a production facility in the Hollywood that never was and always will be anymore. Hollywood Blvd, I would assume is staying because it ties together all of the eventual Movie lands, serving as the birthplace of the movies the way Main Street serves as a birthplace of Walt's dreams. I wouldn't expect to see anymore Hollywood/behind the scenes stuff in the long term future of the park to renamed later.

If Potter can be in multiple parks at UO, SW can easily be in more than one park at WDW. Maybe six to ten years down the line (or more), but still.

Eh, it may be in two parks, but the parks are connected via Potter land to make a seamless transition. I almost don't even consider them two separate parks these days.

Marvel would be my guess. I think Disney will continue to pursue getting full Marvel rights from Universal. Not saying it will happen but if it does look out!

if they were going to do this its too bad they didnt do it before universal renovated part of that land, like redoing the hulk replacing all the track.

they could however make life difficult for universal and eventually make them cave, granted with a huge amount of cash

anything is possible

DHS has pretty much become the "non disney original IP park". If anywhere, that's where it should go. But I think Disney is going to have to knock some people off to get the licensing for those characters back.

At some point, we have to face the fact that Disney acquires stuff.. it's now a Disney IP, and just hope they give us unique and memorable experiences with it.. like star tours, or the IJ stunt spectacular, or RnRC.

its not getting them back, as it wasnt disney that sold them

they were sold before disney bought marvel

would be great if they could, especially since universal is unable to add new rides using those characters, they can just maintain what they already have

yeah,. "getting back" was to say, "under marvel direct control".
