November vs. October-Which is best?

We are going to take our 2 1/2 year old daughter for her first visit to WD in 2012. We hope that she will be either potty trained or almost potty trained. Anyway, I've been in October 4 times and it gets very hot during the day but windy sometimes at night.

My questions: for all those who've been both months, would you take your child during October (when the Halloween stuff is up) or November (when the Christmas stuff is up) and
What was the weather like in November so I know how to pack?

My husband and I are both overpackers too.

Thanks for the advice and I love reading you guys helpful advice about taking kids to DW. Truly helpful for a newbie.

I have been both months. Xmas time in the parks is the best time to visit. Late november you should still be good with not a lot of people in the parks compared to december and the summer. Weather wise is hit or miss. Year 2000 xmas time it hit 95. Now your lucky for it to hit 70. October it is still nice and warm but not burning or humide. Shorts and a t-shirt during the afternoon hot sun. Pants and a sweater if it gets chilly in the evening. Hope this helped

I would say Early November. Though between those 2 time frames you will see 2 different sets of decor (Fall decor through Oct and Holiday decor beginning in Nov). The crowd levels should be lower in November and the humidity will be gone by then. Also the chance of a Hurricane ruining your plans is severely lower.

The best times I have found to go for crowd levels however is Late August, Mid December (prior to the 19th) and early to mid January.

We have been during this time quite a bit and without a doubt, the best week we have found to visit is the week BEFORE Thanksgiving. I you are there this week, you will notice that not many people take their kids out of school a week before they would get 2 "free" days. Holiday decorations are going up, and sometimes the CBJ is switched over to their holiday show. Crowds pick up that Saturday and Sunday, but are still not bad. We were in the parks one day during this time frame and literally had to search sometimes to find other people. It was wonderful.

All in all, is there really a bad time to be in WDW?

CBJ hasn't run it's holiday show in almost 10 years.

im going november 9th to the 17th this year, and for good reason. typically, the few weeks before the holidays kick in the park is "slower" as everyone plans to be down for the holiday season. i chose the week that i did because the decorations for Christmas will be up and the crowds should still be low. october has also been known to still be kind of warm, especially during the years with indian summers.

I agree with these two posters. We actually have always gone in October...week of Oct 11 and week of Oct 20. It's quite warm during the day and especially on Fri-Sun the crowds are crazy because of fall break trips. The week days are relatively good...short lines, few people, nothing too crazy. But we are going this year from Nov 11-20. I asked cast members at Disney last year the very best time to go in the fall, and they all agreed that the two weeks before Thanksgiving were the best. So I'm hoping they were right! I'm hoping we will have a slow week sandwiched between Jersey Week and Veterans' Day crowds (nov 11-13) and weekend before Thanksgiving crowds (18-20). But I've heard those two crowds aren't even that bad for the reasons the above posters mentioned. The best thing about that time frame is that SOME of the decorations will be up, especially the resort decorations. And MVMCP will start up that week too. :xmas:

No
Another vote for November. After the 10th, the Osbourne lights will be up and those are not to be missed, plus the christmas decorations are beautiful.
