November trip

I know Disney fairly well, but I know many people here know it better so I have some questions...because some things in my last trip greatly surprised me! lol

1. Have only ever been to Disney in spring/summer. Going in November. I live in So. IL and it will be COLD here. What will the weather be like and what kinds of clothes do we need to pack for Disney in November?

2. Will be there 11/7-11/11. I know the 11th is Veteran's Day so possibly more crowded but we will be leaving that day so not too concerned. From history, what will the crowds be like? (hopefully not like Easter break this April! haha)

3. Thinking about attending MVMCP on 11/10. Is it REALLY worth the extra money? And is it horribly crowded/will it be hard to see/do things at the Magic Kingdom that night?

4. From landing at Orlando International, about how long can we expect it to take to check in for the Magical Express/get to the Wilderness Lodge?

I think that's all I have right now. I'm a total vacation control freak and have to know everything in advance. (Was not prepared for 40 degree weather over spring break and it bothered me so much! haha)

Were there for Thanksgiving in '06. First 2 days was in the 50's, then it warmed up to the high 80's. Still coming from the north, it felt good to me! Plan on T-shirts during the day, and have a jacket handy for evenings.

Yes, the Christmas party is worth the money. The special fireworks, the parade, the lighting of the castle, seeing the characters in their holiday finery, absolutely the highlight of our trip.

Magical Express times depend a lot on where you are staying and how many stops you have to make. Plan on at least 1-1/2 hours, possibly 2. Our first time using it, we were staying at Caribbean Beach. Plan landed at 10:30, and we were checked in and walking down Main Street by noon.

The weather should be nice during the day, but cool at night. A light jacket should be enough. Crowd levels shouldn't be too bad. I always figur two hours from landing for the ME to get to my resort.

No one answered your question about the ME trip, so I can take that one.

It depends on how long it takes from airport to resort. It varies with how many other resorts you stop at before going to WL.

It can take anywhere from 45-90 minutes. How's that for a quessimation?

Weather- we were in Disney last year in early November. It was chilly and rainy during the start of the trip. The last two days were sunny and warm.

Pack shorts, tees and sweat shirts. Don't fret it's disney!!

We were there last November during mid month and the first few days it was in the high 80's-low 90's. I was like you gotta be kidding me. In the evenings it went down to the 70's so that was nice.

The last two days we were there it got down to the 40's and I was pretty comfortable with long pants and a light jacket. It was entertaining to see alot of the CM's bundled up in heavy coats and gloves. The best part was we had tickets to the MVMCP the last night we were there so the cold weather made it that much better!

I guess we have been lucky with the MVMCP we haven't had the massive crowding experience others have mentioned and have enjoyed it the two times we have gone. Once you make it to the hub the crowds thinned out for us. Main street was crazy because they were trying to herd out the non ticketholders while ticketholders were trying to get in.

I would highly recommend it, although what we did was not go to a park that day and resort hopped and then arrived at the park around 5 or 6. I have been told you can enter as early as 4 with your ticket.

Thanks guys! Before this year I had only ever been to Disney end of May-August because my mom is a school teacher and that's when we took our family vacas. So I was used to the sweltering heat being part of the experience! Well since I have been out of college, earning my own Disney travel money (or "Mickey Dollars" as my son calls them :)) I can take vacation when my Dr. I work for is on vacation and that just so happens to be April and November this year. And like I said, I was NOT expecting 40 degree weather and so glad I had jeans that I wore when we left IL! As far as ME, I've used before to the Beach Club with my parents a couple years ago, but I think I slept or something because I don't remember it at all (plus I wasn't the one in charge) :p
