Oct 24 2007?

Or the WDW 35th which is October 1 2006?

It's hard to say. My guess would be Epcot.

On one hand, the celebration is 18 months, that should start in May 2005. That would make it end around Nov. 2006.

Do you want to shut it down (or at least 1 theatre) to test and adjust for the new film, like you would need to do? Do you do it after only one year, or close it right before the holidays?

By waiting to Epcot's 25th, it gives about 2 years, and can shut down after the Christmas holiday to get the movements correctly in time for Easter and Summer of 2007?

I'd be happy if the only anniversary present we got was the removal of the Mickey hand from Spaceship Earth :D

And there are forces working to accomplish that very thing. The battle over the wand could be interesting.

As for the anniversary I was talking about? Epcot's 25th.

Putting in a new ride film would be simple. It can be done to one theatre at a time, keeping the other open. As simple as changing out the Star Tours films...

...and no, I'm not implying anything there. :)

The giant hand does need to be removed, same with the sorcerer's hat... The reason is because they structures are ruining art but current Disney management doesn't give a ____.

Art and beauty is far more important that capitalism but what will get it through the executive's thick heads.

But it could also be worse... there are a lot of other people who can do much more destruction that Eisner (comcast) and there are many other people who care more about money more than Eisner....

Can't we just clone Walt Disney (with memories intact) and get this over with?

Anyway, I have been telling people that the ride is Soarin over California for the irony and to make them confused...

The Hat isn't actually that bad........It just needs to be relocated. The hand though, should come down. Spaceship Earth has Nothing to do with Fantasia. Or Mickey Mouse for that Matter. You know what? Those of us who are sick of looking at that " Thing " formerly known as Spaceship Earth until disgraced by that hand, should build scale models of it without the hand in our Backyards. . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . .I'm serious.

I read that Soarin' is going to end with an aerial view of Disneyland which is significant to the 50th anniversary.

That is how the current DCA film ends, by flying over Disneyland at Christmastime with the parade going down Main Street and fireworks exploding over the Castle and the Mattterhorn.

I just hope they do something to help with place names and geography. I'm a native Californian who has travelled all over this huge state, and I still had some trouble putting the locations to places in my mind. Was that the Anza-Borrego Desert or was that Death Valley? Were those surfers off Del Mar or Big Sur? Is this the Napa Valley or the San Joaquin Valley? I can only imagine how confusing and meaningless it might be to the tourists from Ohio who have spent their entire lives east of the Mississippi.

Since California has such ruggedly dramatic geography with everything from towering mountains to dramatic deserts, and everything in between, the average Epcot visitor might not even realize these are all vistas solely from the state of California.

Even the though ride system and the film is a direct copy from DCA, I hope they do something in the pre-show to explain why you are about to see a five minute travelogue about California.
