Not a fan of HMH

Saw it last week and It was "cute" but it's too bright in the HM with the overlay. It's probably the only time I'll see HMH but I'd rather have the original ride and soundtrack.

I SO agree! I've seen it once and thought it was just ok. The whole experience is kind of baffling. I've never understood why it's so popular.

I love HMH, but I'm a huge Nightmare Before Christmas. I was FLOORED by how much of a completely different ride experience it was when I first saw it 10 years ago. I honestly just expected some wreaths and decorations. I wish WDW would do more holiday overlays but alas strewing some wrapping paper around and calling it Jingle Cruise it is.

It's funny, I have the exact opposite opinion. I really love the overlay, it adds a refreshing experience to returning guests. I actually dig the fact at how different it is than the original mansion, it's baffling how much it can change in a matter of a few weeks. At the same time I do understand why some people don't. I think people wouldn't mind if it were only for the Christmas season instead of both Christmas and Halloween.

I think the turnoff for me is HMH clashes badly with the style of the ride's art direction and narrative. In contrast Small World Holiday fits that attraction (almost) perfectly. I dunno, HMH is an odd duck to me. It's like putting a Rakin/Bass Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer overlay on the Tower of Terror.

I'm not a big fan of the Holiday overlay, either.
During Halloweentime, it is too 'Christmasy' for my tastes that early in the season.
I've always felt that Mansion should remain in its original spooky state for the Halloween Season and then get the overlay afterwards.

I mean, if there was ever any Attraction one would want to experience around Halloween it would be The Haunted Mansion in its original state!
Seeing things that remind me of X-mas during Halloween really irks me to no end...so i am sure that is part of the issue for me was well.

It's a fun alternative to the original and I can appreciate seeing it, but It seems like November would be a more appropriate time to do the overlay.

I think of it like Santa in the mall... Santa has no place or reason to be in the mall... but we put his little village there and we all enjoy it for the holidays.

HMH doesn't need to 'fit' the mansion at all or NOS... it's just a seasonal transplant (an amazing one at that) that you know is just dropped in place and will go away when it's time is up.

HMH is only available during the holiday season. That's kind of the point of it. Or am I misunderstanding something?
I think he means holiday season as December only. I haven't found it anymore crowded during Halloween than the regular Mansion, except during MHP. We usually go the first week of October so I can't say if it gets more crowded the closer you get to Oct 31.

Yeah, besides some of the issues I have with things light lighting and the fact the ballroom ghosts dance through the Christmas tree, the biggest thing that irks me about it is that it is up for around 40% of the year.

Haha.. yeah the holiday season, to me at least, means November - December. Halloween Time at DLR is Sep - Oct. I've been to DLR in August and every time after that was November/December. Regular HM was no line, no wait but HMH would get waits of up to 45 minutes. Just wondering if other people are less crazy about it before the holidays too.

I love HMH, but Sept. is too early and makes it stay too long. It really should only be in place from Halloween through the beginning of January. But since "Halloween" starts in Sept. with the parties (which is also too early, IMO) I can see why they do it.

I mean, it's not "special" if it is there half the year. It becomes that house guests that overstays their welcome. "It was great seeing ya', now leave."

Holiday season? Only? I believe it's installed around Labor Day and remains well after New Year, until around like Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Do those count? So the Holiday season begins in September and ends in late January?
