Non theme park day

I always include park hopping option, as well as the water parks and more to our Magic Your Way tickets.
My wife has dialysis treatments in Celebrity on Mon, Wed, and Fri mornings. While she's at the clinic for about 4 hours I'm able to take my daughter to Disney Quest, Typhoon Lagoon, or we visit one of the miniature golf courses or shop a while at Downtown Disney.
After we pick my wife up we have a light lunch together and hit one of the parks the rest of the day, topping off the evening with a table service meal before a show like Fantasmic, or parade or fireworks show.

Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday it's up early and go all day packing in as much fun and excitement that we can get.

We have teen-age sons, so having at least 1 day to sleep late is a requirement for them. We ususally drive down (which takes 1 day each way), then stay for 6 nights/5 days. I buy 4-day MYW park hopper tickets and we go to the parks 2 days, then take a day off, and then go to the parks the last 2 days.

On our day off, we go to DTD and DQ, swim at our resort pool, and tour other resorts. We like to go over to the Boardwalk area for dinner at the ESPN Zone and to watch the fireworks portion of Illuminations.

There's plenty to do besides the 4 main theme parks. There's always the 2 water parks. You can spend an entire evening at DisneyQuest. One day of my very 1st WDW trip was spent meandering around most of the official hotels including the Boardwalk area. In the future, we're hoping to see the Tri Circle D Ranch in the morning and Fantasia Gardens mini golf in the afternoon. Other things people do that might take a large part of the day (but which I won't necessarily do myself) -- golf, Richard Petty Driving Experience, rent water craft, Wide World of Sports Complex. I have relatives who rented a boat on Bay Lake off of Fort Wilderness and went fishing all morning (catch and release).

On my last trip I had a great "non theme park" day.

Morning: I went to Fort Wilderness and had breakfast at Trail's End. Then I just relaxed on one of the rocking chairs outside for about an hour.

Late Morning: I rented a canopy boat and spent some time riding around Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon.

Afternoon: At my resort (POFQ) I hung out at the pool, alternating between swimming and reading a book.

Evening: Took the boat to Downtown Disney and saw the early show of La Nouba. After the show I went to the Polynesian and watched the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach.

We don't always plan one, but sometimes they just happen. I know on this next trip my family (11 of us) plans on going to the ESPN Club to watch the Steeler game. I'm sure we will look around the resorts too since they will have the christmas decorations up. We usually go to DTD for a day off. We've never gone mini golfing or anything else. I'd like to do that some time. It just won't happen on this trip.

On our longer trips (over 5 days) we plan a "hotel pool fun day". We will sleep in (not me, the 3 teenagers in the group), spend the day enjoying the resort's pool. We will rent the water sprite's, play volleyball on the beach (at the Poly), maybe rent surrey bike's, whatever we feel like. Then dinner is usually spent at the Boardwalk at the ESPN club followed by shopping at DTD that evening with mini golf thrown in for good measure.

Depends on the trip and what we have planned.

Last year was our first year down at Christmas Time so we had one day that we planned just to tour the various Hotels and DTD to see the displays, with ending up at Whispering Canyons for supper.

In prior years we have planned a day at DTD.

This year, we are spending 4 days at Disney, and 3 at Universal, so the day we check out we are going to do the outlet malls, as well as the huge indoor flea markets they have down there.

THere are a ton of non theme park things to do.

When I was growing up, my parents would allways include Silver Springs, Cypress Gardens, Kennedy Space Center, Bach Tower, the Citrus Tower, and sometimes SeaWorld on our one week vacation. Of course, that was back when there was only the MK and you had to purchase individual tix to each attraction.

Now, its all Disney all the time as soon as we hit the resort. I can go to the mall at home.....

All depends on how long we are staying. This trip coming up we have every day in the parks. Maybe next time (10 days) we will have a day or two for some other activities.

Depending on our length of stay we either plan for 1 or 2 days off. We'll sleep in a little. Then depending on the weather we'll either head to the pool or head to some of the other resorts for a walk around them. We'll spend the evening at Downtown Disney exploring all the things there and do some shopping.

On our last trip we went to the pool until about 2pm then took a little nap. We had dinner reservations at the Beach Club. We went over early and rented a boat for a little while, had dinner, then went to DD.
