Just booked our trip jan.27-Feb 2nd 2016. We decided to have a non park day and relax a little bit. I was wondering what are some ideas for non park days. We were thinking about doing Disney Springs at night.

So instead of going 100% for seven days with one day off, go 80% all eight days.

This is what I want to do on my next trip, not do the whole day in the park schedule most days.

Rather than a whole day off, I like the idea of a couple of half days. Spend the morning at the park and then relax in the afternoon/evening. Or vice versa.

I don't consider Disney Springs or the Water Parks to be relaxing personally.

I'd spend some time resort hopping. Bus to Epcot, then take the Monorail to the MK resorts. Have a relaxing meal where you aren't worried about your park time slipping away.

You could see some of the other offerings in Orlando. The new I-Drive 360 complex has some interesting stuff like the Orlando Eye, SeaLife Aquarium, and Madam Tussaud's. Along with some great food offerings.

While this makes sense when you are staying for more than 6 days, when you buy a 2 or 3 day pass (only staying in the World for 3 or 4 days), those half days really put a dent in the wallet. In my mind its as if you are blowing away $100 bucks a day when taking half days.

For sure, it's expensive to have a lot of downtime, particularly on a short trip. Having said that however, it's also a waste of money if you're stressed out and not having fun. Some people would rather have time at their resort than being in a park from open to close, and that may represent money well spent for them.

This is why I personally feel a WDW vacation needs to be on the longer side. Particularly when staying on site, why spend all that money if you don't have enough time to enjoy your resort without stressing out over missing out on time in the parks?

Totally agree with you there. If given a choice, a week at the World is ideal. Unfortunately, the reality for me and the wife is that we don't get much time off so we tend to have to go fo 3 or 4 days tops. We do however always plan a full day off when we are there at least 4 days. We usually go to the parks 2 days in a row, then a full day off, then cap our trip with 1 more full day at the parks. Its amazing how many things you can do outside of the parks.

While I agree that taking a day around the resort is the best option, should you decide to get out of Orlando I'd highly recommend Kennedy Space Center. It's about 45-60 minutes away. We visited there after our Disney cruise last year for a half day and really enjoyed it. You could easily spend a full day there if you wanted to, but I think it's still worth it for 4-5 hours.

We got back yesterday :arghh: and had two non park days. I would highly recommend Discovery Cove with elite package. I honestly thought I would not enjoy the day as I hate lazy days but it was amazing. Swimming with the dolphins was amazing and the package includes DVD and photos etc. Not to forgot the all important private area to relax. We did it as a 8th Birthday present for my daughter. Next day we used our free entry to Seaworld, the shows where great. Have a great trip.
