Just booked our trip jan.27-Feb 2nd 2016. We decided to have a non park day and relax a little bit. I was wondering what are some ideas for non park days. We were thinking about doing Disney Springs at night.

You could relax by the pool. If you're staying on property, I know a lot of the resorts will do a movie on the lawn type of thing, so you could do DS during the day (when it's less crowded) and then hang out at the resort at night.

For us, a non park day will be either a Disney Waterpark or the resort pool during the day. For the evening we either visit DownTown Disney (aka Disney Springs) or we actually go into one of the parks feeling fully refreshed.

If you have a car why not do something a bit different & see a bit of the real Florida, I can highly recommend Blue Spring State Park its about an hours drive away, but full of amazing wildlife & wonderfully relaxing.

If staying on site any of the crazy golfs are great fun.

You can spend a good half day at Disney Springs. We always go there on our first day (after the flight) if we have 5 or 6 hours and no park ticket. Plan to eat there. We are trying the Boathouse on our first evening (coincidentally also Jan 27th) and might even do the amphicar thing. There are several really great restaurants. DS has really expanded, and there will be even more to see when we're both there next.

Relax by the pool, visit Disney Springs or play a game of mini-golf (the Disney courses are superb), and plan a special dinner somewhere -- either at Disney Springs (e.g., Raglan Road during the Irish step-dancing show in the evening -- ask for a table in the main room with a view of the stage), or at one of the resorts (e.g., Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue, California Grill, or even the table-service at your own resort).

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.Last time we went, we did 8 days straight at the parks and it was too much. I always forget about the mini golf they have...we may check that out. I'm really hoping the weather is ok to be out by the pool. We went last March and every time we sat out by the pool I was freezing! 103 days....

I see your going around the same time I am. It shouldn't be too bad around that time. What I like to do is head off property and head over to the outlet mall by vineland ave and take some time away from the parks...Plus they have a Disney Park outlet sooo booku bonus on discounted Disney park merchandise..

You could use the extra day as a park day, but take the extra time to space out how "hardcore" you do the parks each day. So instead of going 100% for seven days with one day off, go 80% all eight days. I find that a nap in the middle of a park day (if summer / longer hours time) or going to bed early (if winter / parks closing early time) is much more restful if I do that for several days of the trip than if I try and to open to close with a full "day off" in the middle.

Hang out by the pool if the weather is nice. Pools should be heated. Disney springs is always the best idea, but resort hoping is fun as well.

My wife and I are going to take a day off and take a morning bike ride around the resorts (Poly, Wilderness,Contemporary, MK) then I am going to surprise her with a massage a Sense in the Grand Floridian with lunch following at the Grand Floridian Cafe.

From there we are going to take the Monorail and resort hop and eventually heading to Disney Springs and/or Boardwalk.
Days off from the parks are truly underrated in my book and really help out in the long run when trying to hit the parks 3 or 4 days in a week.

There are a lot of things that can keep you occupied for several days much less one. I usually have a day reserved for things that don't include a park. As an example, my last non park day went something like this:

Drove over and parked at the Contemporary, caught the boat to Fort Wilderness in the morning. I have 2 small children and a couple of hours at the petting zoo and pony rides were almost as fun for them as the parks. Late Morning/early afternoon, caught the boat back to the Contemporary. Transferred to the Monorail and spent some time at the Grand Floridian and then over to the Polynesian for a Lapu Lapu. Headed back to the Contemporary and explored a bit.

Headed back to the hotel (Dolphin) and after a couple of hours, drove over to PORS and took the boat to DS. Spent the better part of the evening there, and then at about 9:30pm caught a bus back to Port Orleans Riverside to hang out with Yeehaw Bob for a nightcap or two.

One Little Spark...
-Rent a boat
-Fishing
-Archery Lessons
-Rent a Canoe
-Horseback Riding
-Mini-golf
-Water Park (if warm enough)
-Spa
-Golf
-Get an extra day ticket, but do one of the tours
-Cirque
-Bowling
-Water Skiing (there's a new place that does it in the Orlando Area without boats, weird, but neat)
-Tour other resorts (oddly fun, for adults. The resorts are truly impressive (many of them) and it's easy to burn a few hours hopping between them and touring the grounds.
-Special Meals (signature dines / dinner shows, etc)

Spend the day at your hotel and relax. You're paying good money yo stay at your resort so make use of it! At night, go out to dinner or visit Disney Springs like you said.
