No tickets beyond 5 days?

Am I mistaken, or is 5 days the longest length of time I can purchase DLR park hoppers for? We'll be in town this summer from July 13-20 and were looking to get 6 day tickets. If I want to visit the park for 6 days do I need to purchase a 5 day ticket, then an additional 1 day ticket? That seems...odd.

Disneyland hoppers stop at 5 days but I have been told you can add days in person at the parks but have never tried it myself.

5 days is the max. I just booked a trip and asked this question. You can buy additional days when you arrive, but it will not be as an add on. You are basically just buying a new set of tickets. Atleast that is how I understand it.

Thanks. We've got more days planned, but we might trim it down, or take in some other stuff.

Yes, consider doing other activities. Disneyland isn't like Walt Disney World, a main stay for vacation. You'll be in California. There are plenty of other things to do and I'd take advantage if I were you.

5 days is more than enough even during a busy time. Disneyland is a lot smaller than Disney World. If you are planning on staying longer, consider taking days off in between your 5 day ticket. So visit the park for two days and then take a day off and spend it at your hotel or other nearby attractions, go back to the park for another two days, repeat and then use the last day. I have found that during busy times a 3 day park hopper ticket is ideal. If you are doing 5 days, you may just want to purchase a non park hopper and then on your last day upgrade to a hopper and enjoy hopping on the last day. Note: if you do hop and go at Christmas be forewarned that parks have been known to close due to capacity. My advice is Christmas week, stay in one park all day and do the other park the next. Also arrive before park openings. The first 2 hours a park is open is the best riding time due to shorter lines than in the middle of the afternoon.

Just to confirm what others have said - 5 day max ticket.

The more interesting question that I feel is important to ask is why. Why do they stop limiting tickets at 5 days? It was said it was to keep the "local/seasonal" crowd from purchasing a few extended stay tickets in lieu of the ever increasing annual pass rates. If that is true, then why again do they want to turn business away? They could easily make extended tickets available only through DLR hotels or Good Neighbor ones and link them directly to the dates you have a reservation.

The parks have more than enough capacity in terms of rides an attractions for higher attendance, so what gives?

I suspected (and had someone pseudo-confirm on my last visit) that get this - even though they could cram more people into the resort and the parks (especially DCA), they've already determined that they are comfortably in the zone where guest satisfaction is high and they don't want to adversely impact it by not being able to handle the crowds.

So, in essence, they are turning business away.

That is why they participate in the So-Cal Pass that includes tickets to other attractions in the area. "Take your business elsewhere", "Move along", "We're not the droids you're looking for".

Could you imagine WDW participating in an Orlando Pass? If you think that could happen, I have some PowerBall tickets and a bridge to sell you.

This is an experience from 2013, so things may have changed, but...

We were staying at Grand Californian. We had five day passes. We wanted to spend six days in the park. At WDW, you can continue to add days until you have used your last day.

This was not the case at DL. We were told we could not add additional days. We could either upgrade to APs or buy one day passes. Even though it was really expensive, we got one day single park tickets.

So yes, that was the max, and they were not able to add any extra days. Even a manager couldn't do it. Really ridiculous if you ask me.

So if people want to spend more than 5 days, they want them to be annual passholders!
That was what we were told.

"You can upgrade to an annual pass. And then you can come back a week earlier next year and your passes will still be good."

Yeah, that's great, except we were not planning on coming back the next year, so what use would that be to us?

Their other options were only for California residents. I really think they need to offer a six or seven day pass, especially to guests who are staying at their resorts.

To be honest, they are even less than happy to sell you annual passes anymore either. They are definitely trying to price out some of the locals that were using the place for a social gathering spot by increasing the Select pass prices and adding more and more blocked dates.

I applaud them for it as they seem to have a good grasp on what too much of a $$ good thing $$ (attendance) can do to the overall guest satisfaction.

I do disagree that 5 days being more than enough for everyone though. For the commando style approach it certainly is; but, if you want to take it slow - it can be a challenge.

We wanted more than 5 days for the simple fact that we came last year for 3 days and did the rest of the Southern California thing. We weren't even planning to come back this year, but the 60th stuff changed our summer plans, so now we're coming for a whole week.

This time we'd like to spend the 6 days leisurely enjoying everything.

In the end it's not the end of the world- we'll just buy a 1 day ticket and not hop one of the days.
