Remember, that is a cone of possibility/probability. The end of it is entirely theorhetical. It's shaded in around the "most likely" line.

If at 8am tomorrow it's at the far right side of the cone the entire forecast track will shift to the right placing Tampa, Orlando, and most of central Florida in the possible path.

Well, it probably wont go in that exact path, So the Western part of the Pan Handle will probably get hit. Looking bad for Alabama though.

It looks like she is heading right for ME!!!! YIKES! I am still a little "shell shocked" from Ivan last year. And a bit gun shy. I am already wanting to get the hell out of here!!! I was just riding down at the beach today. It still looks horrible from Ivan. So many places are just gone. Many are rebuilding. LOTS of "For Sale" signs. I should have taken pictures for you guys. If Arlene comes through, I'll go back down and take some pictures and post them.

I just turned on the news and saw that they are already opening shelters along Pensacola, Florida, and in Baldwin and Mobile Counties in Alabama. I think they are also opening shelters in Jackson Co. Mississippi. I guess Ivan spooked alot more than a few people.

I know how you feel. We were hit pretty hard in 2003 by Isabelle. I was out of power for 10 days, with trees down (one over my car) and flooding in my basement. Fortunate to make it through, and with the house saved.

But I know what you mean about being just a little gun-shy. My prayers are with you. Take cover as needed, and do not take the storm lightly.

P.S.: (On another slant of this subject.) News says that most of the gas refineries are in this area of the Gulf, and that they may be affected. Exxon just closed one. This may have temporary effect on gas prices, but if they are hurt it will cause yet another major increase in gas prices, they say. I wish we would have learned from the last few years, and started to build some new refineries elsewhere. Of course, it would take time; but we should still do it....

No ACT

They just cancelled the ACT for us tomorrow. Which is a very good thing, I did not want to leave in that weather. We're taking it next Saturday though. And to think...We almost scheduled our Disney trip to leave tomorrow right after the test:eek:. Thank goodness we picked Christmas!

UK news reported that Arlene was a "hurricane" as opposed to a "tropical storm" - what is its official rating ?

Our news is still saying Tropical Storm with sustained winds at 70 mph. I don't like any of this type stuff AT ALL.
