I will be in the magic kingdom on January 5th, and I've been trying to get a reservation on the website for the past 2 months to no success, am I SOL? is the restaurant that popular?

I just got one on Dec 22 for lunch for 5 of us. Been trying for over a month. It's possible! Keep checking every day.

I just found an open dinner time on Dec 20 also!! I usually get lucky using the website instead of the app-don't know if that makes a difference.

My suggestion: sign up for a free touringplans.com basic access account (https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/join/basic) and use their reservation finder tool (https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finder). It will check several times a day and alert you if a reservation opens up for your desired date/party size. (The rest is up to you: you have to click on the link touringplans send you and make the reservation yourself. If you can't get to it quickly enough, someone else might snap it up -- in which case, just reset the reservation finder and keep trying.)

When we hit our 180 mark for our stay the first week of June 2018 the first available dinner reservation was on our 5th day (185 days out). And we started online at 6:00 a.m. eastern...

This - we used it to get one our trip in March when a friend wanted to eat there. We got it about 2 weeks out IIRC.

Honestly...you're not missing anything. It's a cafeteria with beast in the front and not much in the way of taste or value.

The only mk restaurants I woujd recommend are Crystal palace and liberty tree for lunch.

Are you set on one particular day? Last time i took 2 older aunts, and i knew they would be impressed. i started the day reservations would be taken and i was disappointed at first. I wanted them to see it the first day - plans were MK the first day. nothing was available..arrived on a wed. nothing for thurs, friday, saturday, sunday or monday. we got 4p tuesday. wasnt my first choice 4p either but it was available. even though we were coming in wednesday.. those who had reservations that were coming in before us...got their dates. didnt really matter to me.. turned out 4p was great no rush on the eating.. our server was fantastic...playing games - one table against the other...and the food......i could eat their food every day... i thought it was fantastic... and when you are done you leave thru the library -- and get pix with the beast... would go again and again and again

A lot of folks may hold their reservation right up to the point of getting charged if they're a no-show, and then maybe they cancel depending on their plans. So keep looking - I've often gotten reservations the day before after not finding anything for months. I like lunch better than dinner there BTW, and really enjoyed Skipper Canteen for dinner....

You definitely have to try some more places if those two are your favorites, they are so average at best compared to A LOT of other QS and TS in Disney

Keep trying even to the point of trying a walk up on the day of your visit. We had to leave a day early during our June 2016 trip due to a tropical storm crossing our route back home the next day. (Ended up 7" of rain between WDW and home on what would have been our travel day.) That was going to result in us loosing some meal credits, so we decided to see if we could get in to BOG. As it turned out they had some cancellations THAT MORNING and we were able to get in. If you don't ask, the answer is ALWAY no. If you keep trying it might be yes.

Crystal Palace over Be Our Guest? I'd have to question the seriousness of your statement.

As far as buffets go...grain of salt...crystal palace ain't bad. I'd put that with park fare and tusker a step below boma

Be our guest...like mine train...is ridiculously hype over quality.

It's alright...but the thing that always gets me is how much of a cafeteria it is in there...

Guess that shows how tastes vary. I wouldn’t eat, even if it were free, at your top choices. True BOG is quick service at breakfast and lunch but dinner service is nothing close to a cafeteria.

But to the OP, yes you are pretty much SOL
Really? You wouldn’t eat at those places for free? Come on now.
