No new theme park in the next 5 years

I think that is the great thing about Disney in general. They can combine major thrill attractions with low key ones to create an experience that will be enjoyed by all.

The addition of Expedition Everest will lure visitors to the park that may not have otherwise attended. Therefore, they will get to explore new areas.

I just think that as alll these hardcore Disney fans complain about the direction to which the company is going, especially the theme park aspect, they are losing sight of what Disney is actually accomplishing. Of course, as a business, they have to compete with area theme parks, but they also thrive on building informal educational experiences through its innovative ride construction and presentation. Are they selling out by building a roller coaster in DAK? No way, because look at what they are building, its not a ride, its a journey.

And thats not to say that everything is educational either. Some attractions are just their for pure family enjoyment, and thats cool too. Its good to have high expectations but expecting too much not only will pump negative results, but it will prove unproductive on both parts.

LOL, I am going off on a partial tangent here, I'm well aware of that. But, guess I just had some stuff to say.

I agree that it would be nice to see some expansion inside the existing parks before a new park is built. As WDW is currently with four parks, it takes about six days to see them well. This goes well with people taking a week off of work. If another park is built it could push the time to see five parks up to eight days. This might be a little long for a trip which could result in skipping a park or rushing through them to get the major things done.

If it is suppose to be a zoo then it is contradicting to what they advertise (natazuh) or however they spell it. Most people visit WDW for their attractions, be it thrill or non thrill, if people want to go to a zoo they will go to their local zoo. While yes, animals are the parks theme, what they create to express that is based off what the GP (general public) wants/expects. Right now education comes in second or third to thrill in the GP eyes. A good example is the current state of Future World in EPCOT. All the thrill rides are attracting the bulk of the guest. Saying that people need to appreciate the non-thrill aspect isn't going to make guest appreciate anything. If people don't appreciate something it is because it doesn't appeal to them. Disney is a business trying to attract people to their product. I think that they are doing a better job then any other theme park out there to include education with what the GP expects.

Also, one of the demographics Disney is trying to appeal to more is young adults and teens. Lets not forget that Universal is dipping into Disney's market and visiting guests.

...As far as crazy cast member rumors, my favorite one was the year DCA opened, a BTMR cast member tried to give me inside information that involved a 3rd park in DL which would be built down the street and be connected via monorail. This park was supposed to be the infamous thrill ride/villains park. So, yeah, don't listen to these zany rumors, esspecially the bus drivers! ...

I believe this rumor is based loosely in fact. Disney does own a large piece of land south of Disneyland on the east side Harbor Boulevard that was acquired around the same time they got all the land that allowed the development of DCA, the parking garage, DTD, etc.. The land space is large enough to support an additional park or additional hotel space. It took a little digging but here is the map I remembered seeing a few years ago that identifies the property.

This is actually a Disney produced map that was released during the development of the whole Disneyland Resort project.

I have an insider that works for Reedy Creek, and they pretty much know everything. They told me that they have indeed are beginning the break ground on a new rollercoaster type park near disney wide world of sports. it's very secret. They've just cleared land and cleared a dirt road leading up to the future site. So, I don't know if that's true.

I can say almost without a doubt that this information is 100% false. Number one rule in life: Disregard everything anybody tells you, unless you personaly know it to be fact.

There is no reason to build new parks, when you have room to improve the parks that exist. I would rather see more put in to what we already have, as opposed to having another half finished park.

*coughing noise*mutters bullcrap*coughing noise*

Someone's yanking your chain OR they don't know any better. That land is for the PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED expansion of the ball fields (sponsered by HESS). If you are at WDW... it's easy to see for yourself. The work is mostly done. There was a large construction layout area and a ton of new drainage work put in as well (thus the area is a little larger than just the fields).

p.s. RCID or RCES?

Rule #1 in Disney Rumors... NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER believe a rumor that comes from a WDW bus driver. That's like walking into a mall and asking the dude fixing the fountain about the price of a suit in Macy's.
