No More Gray Stuff for Free?

Clearly they can't please everybody. I too like the idea of a secret, off-menu item, though I never would have thought that "grey stuff" would be a dessert. I was hoping for some kind of pâté amuse-bouche.

The initial release of information in 2012 had no mention of Grey Stuff and people went nuts. (see link below) Disney relented and let everyone in on what they were doing. Either they wanted to keep it secret or they overlooked the single most obvious menu item for the BoG menu. I tend to believe the secret angle.

This was written in November 2012. The link to the blog post I linked to is from 2 months earlier. It is clear they were planning on having it at least by then.

The reality is, and this is undisputed (it is acknowledged in your article above) that by the time the restaurant actually opened it was there and available. What seems to be the question is whether they will give it to you or not.

In the Magic Kingdom? LOL. We're lucky it's not a gray burger patty.

They should make you sing the whole song and if you got everything right, you'd get the grey stuff :joyfull:

But seriously can't they get a bit more creative? The lack of authentic and good desserts it's the number one reason I won't be returning to BoG. If I want a good cupcake, there's plenty of options all around WDW where I can get one. French cuisine has thousand of simple and tasteful dishes that would look awesome on the menu.

Sorry, rant over.

"'Eeeeyyy man! Anybody who wans' some Grey Stuff, I got dime bags right 'ere...!"

We had it in June...
It's sweet, it's "grey", and it's "stuff"...that's pretty much it.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
My niece was celebrating her 19th birthday (she never took the pin off for the entire 10 day trip, including the flight home) when we were there last November.
I wan't impressed with the grey stuff - couldn't get past the look of it; but the candy pearl things were delicious.

The big Disney secret, I learned, is the Birthday Button. Jess was greeted with Happy Birthdays everywhere we went, received a dozen free cupcakes (on the DDP, free cupcakes was the last thing we needed) and they even dimmed the lights at Beaches and Cream, presented her with a helium balloon, and made everyone sing.
That's your Disney scam for sure. Please note: not my kid, I wouldn't have allowed it, especially since her b'day was a full week before we even arrived.

Here is a review of the new Gray Stuff dessert from another site -

"The grey stuff is totally delicious. We had it for dessert on Monday - didn't know it was new - would have taken a picture. It is served like the cupcakes - in a fancy wrapper. The grey stuff is actually served over a cake/cupcake of some sort. Don't really know how to explain it - it was the fluffiest consistency you could imagine for a cake - and it had a very very mild chocolate flavor. It was the best dessert I had all week. If I knew now what I new then, I would have ordered extra to take back for snacks. It's only available for dinner. They also brought out a plate of grey stuff for dd's birthday - and a card signed by Belle and the Master."
