I know I have questioned aobut this before but I'm still a little bit Confused. In the No Doubt song, Tragic Kingdom, a dis on Walt DisneyWorld/Disneyland. i know Gwen grew up pretty much in the Shadow of Disneyland in Anahiem so I just don't understand what is the song about. Is it completely against Disney, is it a bad song? I've never really understood. I dont think it's a very nice song.

I assumed it was...

No Doubt said:
Once was a magical place
Over time it was lost
Price increased the cost
Now the fortune of the kingdom
Is locked up in its dungeon vaults
The castle floor lies in traps
With coiled wired set back
Decoyed by old cheese
Now the drawbridge has been lifted
As the millions

They drop to their knees
They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are buried
In their minds

His tears are frozen stiff
Icicles drip from his eyes
The cold wind blows as it snows
On those who fight to get in
On heads that are small
Disillusioned as they enter

They're unaware what's
Behind castle walls
But now it's written in stone
The king has been overthrown
By jesterly fools
And the power of the people
Shall come to believe they do rule
They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are buried
In their minds
His tears are frozen stiff

Icicles drip from his eyes
Welcome to the tragic kingdom
Cornfields of popcorn
Have yet to spring open
Have they lost their heads
Or are they just all blind mice
We've heard all their stories
One too many times
Hypnotized by fireflies
That glow in the dark
Midgets that disquise themselves
As tiny little dwarfs

The parade that's electrical
It serves no real purpose
Just takes up a lot of juice
Just to impress us
They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are buried
In their minds
His tears are frozen stiff

Icicles drip from his eyes
Welcome to the tragic kingdom
Cornfields of popcorn
Have yet to spring open

When did the song come out.... '97? Maybe they were unhappy with the changes going on at DL at that time!

I don't think anyone from No Doubt was a CM. I think it's just growing up in the shadow of Disneyland in Anaheim.

You are correct it wasnt that none of them worked at disneyland it is just because they grew up in anaheim

Ik new they grew up there, but Gwen went there all the time, it was like her hang-out place, when she graduated from school she went to DL to celebrate, so why slate it in a song?

You can have fun at a place and not agree with everything that goes on there.

Perhaps that’s where the disappointment comes in. It’s a great place to visit, but sadly Disneyland was in a state of despair…and any DL fan could’ve seen it.

Yeah, I think the song mainly about how the theme parks kind of lost their way for a bit and were more focused on the almighty dollar as opposed to following the original intent and family entertainment ideals it was founded upon. And this was Gwen's way of expressing the way she felt about it. It's a good song.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

We all love Disney theme parks. But I think a lot of us do not agree with how things have been running lately. I think a lot of us wish it could go back to the way it was; Walt's original vision.
