When I was at WDW last week I watched the channel which decribed all the parks, waterpars, etc. I watched it at least two times in a row. I never did see them even mention Disney MGM Studios. They covered all the parks but this. Does anybody know why?

yeah this does sound wierd. i can remeber seeing it at my room this summer. I will check it out wheni go on the 19th. What hotel were you staying at.

It was there this summer. They wouldn't keep the center of their celebration off the TV.

I noticed this when we went earlier this month. It cycled through the Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, water parks and food. No Disney Studios. I stayed at All Star Music, Port Orleans FQ and The Animal Kingdom Lodge. They do show the Hat at the beginning when they mention the 100 years of Magic but nothing about the Studios. It may be because they closed the Huntchback show because I know it was featured on the vid. Who knows.

I was at PO riverside last week too! And in fact I noticed the same thing - as MGM is my favorite park I watched and waited for it but nothing. I think it was in fact because of the Hunchback stuff. If you flipped over to the spanish version channel the mgm promo was still there and still had the hunchback footage in it.

It was there in May of 2002 at the All Stars. My guess is the removal of Hunchback, but mabey it's also for the new drop profile on ToT...

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but maybe Disney finally realized what a crappy park MGM is. I just got back from a trip that included all four parks, and my MGM experience was miserable (except for the Muppets).

I'm not a thrill ride guy, so I skipped TOT and the Aerosmith coaster. There's just nothing to do at that park! The Great Movie Ride is not only has dated material, but it looks bad. Same with the Backlot Tour. It was dirty. There was gum and trash all over the place. Star Tours really needs updating. I could go on.

It just comes across as such a non-Disney experience. Unfriendly castmembers. Wierd layout. And none of the attention to detail that makes Disney World so special.

When I go to WDW again in June I'm skipping this park and going to Sea World.

Damn... I thought MGM was one of the stronger parks at WDW. It doesn't hold a candle to any of Universal's parks or the Magic Kingdom, but it certainly is better than Epcot or Animal Kingdom at the present moment.

BTW, I too noticed the trash problems at WDW. They were not completely widespread, but the areas that did have them looked like Six Flags.

This report really sadens me. Walt would never have let this happen. Out of all the debates on weather Walt would have removed a favorite attraction for something newer could be debated apon forever, The one thing I know from all the interviews and films on how Walt wanted to operate the parks, He would have never ever let the parks get dirty and in such disrepair. Knowing this I know that the next time I'm at WDW or DL and I see something like this I will call it to the attention of a supervisoring CM and see where it goes, and as a stockholder it shows a lack of upkrrp in an investment.

Well, I think MGM is the best park at WDW....but that's just me.
They can do a lot with the park, they just need to do it sometime soon!!

(The Great Movie Ride is my favorite, and I know they can update that one)

I have to completely agree with the fact that there is nothing to do at MGM. I can see why thrill seekers like it due to the RRC and T of T, but that's about it besides Fantasmic! I would not miss Fantasmic for anything, or the cool "Singing in the Rain umbrella that we always stop to play by and take pictures--there is not much else of merit there. I'd take the AK any day over MGM. At least there are places to explore at AK--nada at MGM.

As far as Disney looking like Six Flags--there have been several posts regarding Six Flags and I have not said this yet because it's gross but--there is no way Disney is EVER going to be close to Six Flags in the garbage department!!! At the season passholder's lounge at Six Flags the ENTIRE outside seating area was COVERED with garbage, mostly feminine hygiene products. It was the grossest thing I ever saw. And embarrassing because my son's 12 year old friend talked about it on and off all day. I told a manager about it and we went back later but still NOTHING was done.

Disney would close it's doors before anything like this happens. So please--no more comparisons of Six Flags and Disney with the trash problem! This is an over exaggeration for sure.

The day WDW turns into Six Flags is the day I stop going. Let's pray that Walt was a prophet... "That's just it, mine wouldn't be."

A lot of people seem to want to bash MGM in this forum....I can see their point, but at the same time you have to consider that MGM is the kind of park that blends just enough of all of the facets of a major theme park together to create a seamless experience. It hasn't yet managed to go over the top and get enough attractions to overflow one's day yet, and what with Project Gemini and all of the cash that's going into that, I don't know that it will anytime soon.

The fact remains that MGM is not the kind of park to plan a whole day around. I like to take a day where I go to MGM in the morning and then take the FriendShip over to International Gateway at Epcot and spend the rest of the day in the World Showcase. Don't go to MGM with a one day one park pass. Use a Hopper. I spend 5 hours there at a time, maximum, but they're a good 5 hours.

Well.....to each his own but I have always thought that MGM is the best of the parks since it opened in 89. Of course it is a matter of what you like to do and I am a movie person. Of course that would make you think that I would like Universal, but I think it is a BIG rip off. The last time I was there in June 02, my girlfriend and I did BOTH IOA and Universal Studios on less than a day.
As far as Disney parks, as I said, MGM is by far my favorite. I always devote 2 days to it. The biggest loser is Animal Kingdom. A lot of walking for alot of nothing. The safaris and tough to be a bug are all it has to offer. the rapids are ok. EPCOT is not far behind, but maybe mission space will remove some of the snooze factor.
