Hey,
I am a seasoned WDW visiter. I love WDW and everythink about it, so when i went to Thorpe Park (UK). I went not expecting it to even compare to WDW. And how right i was.
1. The selection of rides is not gd. Few and most are for thrill seakers. (im not calling the rides bad they were quite gd, just mostly the same)
2. Ride waiting time and waiting areas. In WDW the attension to detail is amazing take AKs River Radids for example. The waiting areas were all metal polls and trees.
3. The way staff are no smiles they were all . But im sue not all were like this.
4. You just aint getting anything special like you do in WDW.
5. No firework shows or parades.
If you have been to Thorpe Park tell me wot you think

BTW: I aint saying it aint worth the trip because it is, it just aint no way as good a as WDW.

The theming and the experience that is Disney sets those parks apart from all the others in the world. I have learned a long time ago, don't expect Disney unless I am in a Disney owned business.

I've only ever been to Alton Towers in England. Whilst some of the rides are OK, the atmosphere is not a patch on Disney. Apart from the lack of themeing, the employees do not as a whole have the same spark as Disney CMs and I'm sorry to say that there are a lot more yobs in the UK - and their contribution to the atmosphere is far from a positive.

I HATE it when people try to compare WDW to great america... great america is not fun at all i have been there before.... I think once you go to WDW everything else is worse... it is SUPER hard to top WDW I have never been anywhere with rides that has.

The CMs no longer selected as carefully, nor do they have as much training as they used to, so I hope they are still considerably more polite and "happy" than at other parks.

Talking of unique qualities, Disney parks are generally a totally immersive experiance, with all aspects relating to a given theme. I feel, however, that some things really take away from that noadays, like that horrid Aladdin thing that ruins the atmosphere in Adventureland. Without those types of "half-themed" rides, I think Disney would be even more special.

Walt Always said: "Disneyland (or any other park if he were alive to see it) is a show, and every person who works there is a part of that show." True to this day, we call everyone "Cast Members." Everyone is considered a Guest and everything in the resort is a show, carried out picture perfect. So, what's the big difference? Other parks are not a show, they are not carried to the high standards that a show have, nevertheless and Disney show. So, that's the biggest difference in my book. All the cast members have a "roll" in the show, whether it be with guests, behind the scenes, or acting itself, they are all a very valueble part of the show. In theature terms, if one part of even the Ensamble is not present, the whole show can go to pieces. The choragraphy, the vocals, and everything can become off. And people at Disney are the same way and they realize their role in this show, we commanly refer to as Walt Disney World/Disneyland/Disneyland Paris/Tokyo Disneyland and all the Disney Parks. That is my point, that really explains the difference to me.

As I have been to both of these parks in the UK, Alton Towers is 10-15 times the park that Thorpe Park is.

Don't get me wrong, I went to Thorpe Park quite a bit. In fact, I threw the summer party for my office there last year, and was a season pass holder the year before. But Thorpe is nothing but a few thrill rides, carnival games, and very very little theming in a former granite quarry.

I have never experienced WDW, so I cannot compare it to the other two, but I certainly am expecting a lot more, after listening to friends and family for 30 years.

I will say this, even DLP was noticeable better than both UK parks as far as atmosphere. When I first went under the entrance to the parking area.....goosebumps... and I turned into a very excited 6 or 7 year old.... (and that was two years ago)

I think the thing is that Disney rides are not just rides, they are experiences. Even Disney thrill rided like ToT and all the Mountains have a story or background which can imerse you in a way which no ride in the UK does. Thorpe Park is a fairly good park from what is on offer this side of the pond but the rides are only rides and there is no emotional involvement in them. In my opinion the closest thing to a proper Disney experience can be had at Alton Towers on the Hex ride which tells the story of a demonic tree...

The thought of HEX brings back a certain smell...

Where else could a ride be themed in actual ruins except in Europe.....

Outstanding experience.... :)

If you have ever been to a Disney, or even Universal Park, every other place you go to is spoilt.

At a young age, I thought our (UK) theme parks were amazing, I have been to most theme parks in the country, then you go to Disney and NOTHING ever compares. I was at Thorpe Park two weeks ago, whilst I love thrill rides, no body will ever match Disney. You constantly compare everything to Disney, and having only just come back (April), it was still fresh in our minds.

The Tussauds group (Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Chessington) just doesn't have the money that Disney has, remember, this Disney parks are as a result of a mouse!
