Getting some more info, the new toaster, er um, new console the Switch is looking to have some possible issues.

First, every third party developer always gets behind a new system at first only to see if it sells. Until you see announced titles or better yet titles developed for the system, I don't get excited.

Second, the hardware is based on Nvidia technology and software, not developer friendly like the AMD stuff being used by the Xbox one and PS4. Plus if third party developers were to port over to the Switch a AAA title from those two systems, it would cost more development dollars for a Switch port, again this is a third party red flag on a system that has not sold jack compared to the XB1 and PS4.

Third, what is the native resolution on the handheld? 1080? How long is that going to last without a charge? Two hours tops? Will it burn off your hands and fingerprints?

See, this is why it's fun watching the fanboi's go gaga, this looks like a fail in theory but I would love to be proven wrong but the deck is totally stacked against it. Got to wait for more details on the 26.

Point 1: Not always true.. Third party developer did not get behind the Wii U at any point, in fact you can look at the initial partnership list for the Wii U it's quiet sad.
Point 2: AMD stuff being easier than Nvidia. Where did you hear this? They use AMD cause it's cheaper not because it's easier, and as for developing most game developer are developing on game engines that are AMD and NVIDIA compatible, your bigger issue is CPU the reason Xbox and PS4 are doing so great is they are using X86 processors the same as your windows market, Switch will have to compile to a different CPU instruction set.
Point 3: Cell Phones are higher than 1080 and you can game on them and they don't burn off your fingers :p Also I haven't seen any complaints of the Nvidia shield (which is the Father of the NX) burning many hands off at 720. As for resolution rumor is that the portable resolution is 900p which is what the Xbox One runs for must of its graphic intensive games.

Just from footage the Mario game is clearly new. The town area at the start hasn't appeared in any previous game. We don't have enough details on Mario Kart or Splatoon yet. They too show some differences from their Wii U counterparts. They could be ports but nothing is confirmed, only that Zelda is a port.
I would venture to say that Zelda is not a port and both version were developed simultaneously to some extent.

Looks like it's a new Mario Kart, I rewatched the video and the racers have double items which was removed in Mario Kart 8

Handheld has always been rumored to be 720p. 1080p is for TV.
Or PS4 Pro... -.- (Don't get me wrong I'll probably upgrade to the pro to take advantage of HDR but still the name is cringe worthy)
You don't need to. HDR is coming to all PS4's through an update.

I'm still debating it, I want it for a better Final Fantasy/Last Guardian experience. I've waited ten years for these games, I want to enjoy them in the best of my capabilities.
my PS4 is limping along, doesn't charge the controller anymore and the fan is SO FREAKING LOUD! Definitely buying a Switch- love me some Mario.

Amen to the LOUD Fan, part of the reason I don't game on my PS4 anymore.. Can never go wrong with Mario and I can't wait to see Uni do something with the Nintendo partnership.

There are also rumors (I think it was Junichi Musada or Satoshi Tajiri) that said they'll be developing Pokemon games for the Nx/Switch. Now whether those will be core series games or spinoffs like Snap and Gale of Darkness remains to be seen. I guess the question that needs to be answered is: Is Switch the successor to BOTH the Wii/U and the 3DS or just the Wii/Wii U?

It's the successor to both. Prepare yourself for HD Pokémon.

Apparently the lack of those triggers is what could've kept it off Wii U. She's a trusted source.
Probably the same thing I am.

The Wii had some fantastic titles - folks only seem to remember the shovel ware, but Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 were better than anything that came out on the Wii U.

Nintendo seemingly gave up on the Wii U from year two on. No Metroid. No Zelda (they are only doing a co-release with the Swith version because they pretty much have to as they advertised it as a Wii U game for so long). No Animal Crossing (on the one system it would have been perfect for - instead they throw a shovel ware Amiibo game out and dozens of Amiibos for it - which are $4-5 on Amazon right now btw).

And the franchises they did do, were lackluster. They took the entire basis of Mario Party (a virtual board game) away. Mario Kart was good, you can't screw that up (which is why they are going to ask folks to buy it again). Smash Bros got too complex for its own good and online was a shadow of what it could have been. Star Fox was a dud. They tried to make A-list titles out of glorified DS games like Toad and DK puzzle games. Even the convoluted nature of Super Mario Maker's online features made it feel lackluster. Mario 3D and NSMBW were ok but very little innovation. Paper Mario Color Splash is a 3DS game forced onto the Wii U.

It sounds like the person being quoted (who is also a 30 year Nintendo fan like me) - has the same mentality that I do. People my age game on comfortable furtinture viewed on large screens with surround sound systems - so the portable aspect is not a draw. The only point to getting this new system is to play the newest first party games (apparently, this doesn't even match XBOX One stats, so I don't care about third party watered down for a semi-portable). And since the direction they have taken with those first party games hasn't been great, I don't care about the gimmick - and my Wii U investment can't be carried over - I totally see where he is coming from.
All valid criticisms except where did you get DK puzzle games from? Tropical Freeze was a real platformer and a very good one at that.

Real shame that the best thing that we got of Metroid the entire generation was Metroid Blast in Nintendo Land :(

I'm still looking forward to the Switch. Don't know what I'll do with my Wii U and 3DS. Maybe they'll go back in their boxes for storage.
