The price for the Nintendo Switch is actually going to be cheaper than the Wii U at just $199 for the basic and $250 for the Deluxe.

Nintendo may put both Playstation and Xbox out of business with this. LOL.
that is the European Pound price that I fount in the Sun in US it is about $250 for the base and $310 for the deluxe

The rumor is $250 as the base not $199.
Hi @Mike S! Thanks. That's still a great price though!

0 chance of that. The hardware difference alone makes the other two better.
Hi @imperius! Umm, don't hate. Nintendo is going to outsell both Playstation and XBox combined with this new console -- just like they did with the Wii.

Nintendo has proven over and over again that hardware specs is totally overrated. It's just numbers for the techie type guys who hang out at Best Buy to brag about.

It is the software that counts. And, they don't have Mario either. And, I really love Wii Fit U -- the balance board is so underrated. It doubles as a scale and tracks my weight and my BMI. It can track daily steps too but I use Fitbit for that.

Hi @trr1! LOL. I saw it in The Sun, too. But, there is was a more reputable source that must have posted The Sun's price in dollars -- and, then they quickly removed it. LOL.

Nintendo is not going to outsell the Playstation or Xbox with the Switch. The Wii was a once in a blood moon system that appealed to the masses with a new way to play games and motion sensor, Switch looks like a mediocre home console and a good portable if it has a good battery life. The Wii U was a below par system spec wise and it got clobbered in retail, Mario and Zelda did not save it.

BTW, the techie guys have a Reddit, no one hangs out at Best Buy, its just a showroom for online purchases.

It'll also have main Pokemon games which did help the 3DS. That alone will make it bigger than the Wii U.

Imagine the fun of stepping into a larger-than-life Nintendo adventure. Gigantic Piranha Plants spring to life. Question blocks, power-ups and more surround you. And Mario and all his friends are there to pull you into a brand-new world.

You’ll enter an entire realm filled with iconic Nintendo excitement, gameplay, heroes and villains. And it’s coming to three Universal theme parks around the globe.

  • Nintendo-themed areas are coming to Universal Studios Japan, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.
  • These will be expansive, immersive and interactive. They’ll be highly themed and authentic environments filled with multiple attractions, shops and restaurants.
  • You’ll feel as if you’re playing inside your favorite games – in real life.
  • There will be something for everyone—regardless of their age or gaming experience level.
  • Planning and creative work on these areas is well underway; they will open separately over the next several years.

Original reports back in March have the land opening in Japan by 2020 with a price tag of over $350 million. I would think they would have Orlando's version ready by 2020 or 2021. The timing could make it go head to head with Star Wars Land opening at WDW. That would be quiet the battle. It also stated that the land would focus on Mario.
I think this is just the first 'phase' of Nintendo for Universal. Multiple lands will be developed over time (just like they are doing with Harry Potter) and probably at different Universal parks in Florida.

2020 seems so far away....
About 3 years (About the same time frame as Star Wars Land at DS). From what I have seen or read that would work with the current timeline of openings:
2017 - Volcano Bay, Jimmy Fallon Ride and a new resort
2018 - Fast and Furious Ride and potential update of a Marvel ride
2019 - Potential Secret Life of Pets Ride (second movie is coming in 2018) and additional Potter development
2020/2021 - Nintendo and more resorts

If the above info is close, that would be an impressive development schedule.
I also think they will do something with their Dreamworks IP during this time frame (new parade, show and meet and greats?)

Fantastic Beast stuff for Potter development or something completely different?
I don't know. I just think they will not let Harry Potter/Fantastic Beast go 4 or 5 years without a major new addition (by 2020 the third movie will be out). They would be leaving too much money on the table if they did. Same with Marvel. Universal's 'problem' is how do they capture all these IPs (Fantastic Beast, Nintendo, Dreamworks, Marvel and Secret Life of Pets) in a timely manner. Of course its a good problem to have.

I just think by 2020/2021 each of these IPs will have something new developed for them at Universal Orlando. I also could see a Nintendo and Dreamworks theme hotels coming as well.

I've heard rumors this might appear in the lower lot at USH. Any rumors where this might be in Orlando? I don't want to get too far off track from Nintendo news, just wondering how everything fits in the parks. Any additional info about Nintendo Land in KidZone, or Toon Lagoon, or someplace new? Especially if they are hinting something Nintendo will appear in USH?

In Orlando SLoP was rumored to replace the Toon Lagoon theater and Nintendo for KidZone.

Don't know how you can't be extremely excited over this if you are a theme park fan.

Regarding the people talking about the Switch price, there is/was a price guarantee for $242 or about 200 pounds for the base model on European game site "Game Seek"

http://www.gameseek.co.uk/pd/Vidww4tgNSwitch/Nintendo-Switch-Console

Base editions don't come with games, so it's really not a value unless you are dead set on renting games and no one does that anymore, or no one I know.

Besides, Nintendo first party games usually come jam packed with so much content you really should buy them.

The focus solely on Mario. I think people are expecting more than just mario characters and some won't be happy.
Good thing they haven't revealed anything beyond miniscule details. From rumors this is a Mario and donkey Kong expansion with a possible focus on Yoshi. With Zelda and Pokemon to feature later. So not an issue just timing.
