Nikon - now official camera of Disney Parks

I've been using Nikon stuff for 30+ years, I think this is kind of neat. There have been "brand-x is the 'official camera of'" deals for decades, but I think this is the first time I've seen a camera brand that will be putting their name on the "picture spot" signs. I'm ready to start my new collection of "Nikon picture spot" signs around the parks :D

Bye bye Kodak!

It is interesting that the fact Kodak was the former sponsor of the pavilion has really made everyone feel like another camera company should take over. You know who would make a fine sponsor for a pavilion about Imagination (this is crazy so hear me out) - Disney. At one point they used to be a world's leader in this commodity. Perhaps, this sponsorship (which should be easy for the company to obtain) would help them re-discover this hidden asset.

I think it is more point of view, but Disney? All I can think of is what they are doing to Norway pavilion and did to Living with the Sea's. Don't they sponsor those pavilions?

I know change..... But I'll miss Kodak. Especially for the Imagination pavilion. Well ok, the old Imagination pavilion. Magic Journeys, Makin Memories, Honey I shrunk the Audience, Image Works. Sigh........ Never again.

I'd assume neither since Nikon don't exactly make "impulse buy" type cameras (nothing cheap).

Depends on your definition of "cheap". They make a few point and shoot cameras in the $100 range, and quite a few in the $100-$250 range (not Disney prices, obviously). I doubt there's much interest in carrying $3000 D800s though :)

I know this is a bit of a bump (sorry!) but I was just looking at the update by Orlando Theme Park News and noticed this:

Looks like the old Kodak spots are being resigned. Not sure when this started (I hadn't noticed these before now) but it stuck out to me when I saw the picture in the update and thought I'd point it out. :)

The yellow background really seems to throw off the design of those signs. I think just using the Nikon logotype would have been better.
Just a guess, but I would imagine Nikon wanted the yellow for that specific reason. It draws attention to the brand name, which is the point of any sponsorship.
