Nike Women's Marathon

So I just saw on Facebook that the random drawing for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco is open for registration. It's pretty pricey but you get a Tiffany Necklace as your finishers medal :D, I like pretty things...Which is kind of surprising considering my very unglamorous lifestyle of nursing and farming. Anyway I almost registered for the drawing but then I came to my senses and realized that I couldn't really afford it and I would have no one to watch my children while I am gone(details)...I wonder how many people get chosen out of those that throw their names into the lottery?

Has anyone ever done this race or heard about it?

I did the Half in 2011 and just did the DC half in April. They are nice races. The hills will KILL you in San Fran (check the incline info). I chose not to put myself in the lottery b/c San Fran is the same day as a local half which means I can do a half and not spend money on travel -- ie. more money for WDW full in January. :eek:P

That was pretty much my thinking, that I wanted more money for the Disney full in January. I am going to do a local 20k trail run instead...Maybe in a few years when I have more money.

Now THAT's nice bling! Isn't there a race somewhere that the women get greeted by firemen in tuxedos at the finish line who hand you a single rose? There is, but I can't remember what race it is.

I wonder if that's one of the Diva races. *shrugs* Not entirely sure.

As far as the Nike Women's race...I saw some pics on my Twitter from the one in DC this year and I gotta say the swag looked pretty nice. I think they had limited edition Tiffany shoes not to mention a necklace.

So glad I stumbled upon this thread. Just threw my hat into the ring for the drawing! I live in the bay area and for some reason thought the registration opened on the 10th.

I haven't run it before but only heard great things and feel like this is the ultimate women's race. It's pricey so it might be a one and done for me if I'm selected this year.

I believe the Nike Women's is the one where it's Firemen in tuxedos with silver trays full of Tiffany's boxes!

I did the Diva Half here in the bay and there were shirtless firemen handing out medals. Wasn't expecting it and at the end of a rough race got surprised and flustered by all the beautiful men (seriously felt like I was an awkward teenager again). They were BE-A-UTIFUL! :)

I hope you get chosen! And then I can't wait to hear about it...I think I am going to try for it next year. San Francisco is a pretty easy trip from here.

Nike SF is fireman in tuxes. Nike DC is ROTC guys in tuxes. Neither thrilled me when the bagel was on the other side of them...

Shoes you had a pay extra for and they were pricey! Also limited edition so they were pretty much sold out by the time any of the runners got to the store to buy them... womp womp.
