Hello All, I will be staying at AKL from July 12th-July 20th and was told that they offer a nighttime safari for guests staying there. It last for an hr, and I believe cost $70. Has anyone done this, or know someone who has, and any feedback would be appreciated. I also remember hearing it was only done twice a week, and the number of guests were limited. Any info on those points are also appreciated.

Back in 2004 I did a "magical gathering" which included a dinner/show at Animal Kingdom and an evening safari, but I haven't done the night time safari that is offer now with the night vision goggles. It was pretty neat being at animal kingdom at night and having only a few people in the park with us. According to Disney's website, they offer the night time safari wednesday through mondays from 10-11, and you do have to make reservations for it in advance.

Some friends did this recently. They enjoyed it very much but said the one downside was it only lasted for one hour. They take you out on the resort savannahs and you get to view the animals up close utilizing night vision goggles.

They have offered several safaris for guests. Are you referring to the Wanyama safari? (Info here -> http://www.aklresort.com/content/wanyama-safari) That's the only nighttime one I am aware of, but is way more than $70. They do offer night time sessions in the outlook areas where you an use night vision goggles for free. They also offer a sunrise safari, but that takes place at AK and requires you to have park admission.

We did it in February and a Giraffe actually licked the canopy of our truck. You get night vision goggles to play with and part of your tour cost goes to the conservation fund. The dinner one is too expensive, $190 per person. Dreamfinder it is a new offering that started last fall I believe.
