Good for WBD, which is a great service…but how is White Lotus acquired? Is it because it’s available immediately both on HBO and its streaming service at the same time?* So does Max “acquire” WL from HBO?
*(put another way - if Disney had a Disney Channel series they also streamed on D+ at the same time)

Same reason why Simpsons, Family Guy, Bobs Burgers, or even Grey's Anatomy is listed as Acquired even though Disney owns them. They are licensed content from one company to another, even if they are under the same umbrella.
White Lotus is an HBO show technically licensed out to Max for streaming. If it was a Max exclusive it would go under Original.
For this stat, they count all the avenues of content a company produces: all streamers (even if licensed to another company's streamer), all TV stations, and even YouTube videos that belong to a studio is counted for the studio, and not for YouTube.
So, e.g., all the YouTube videos of Colbert or Kimmel count toward CBS-Paramount and ABC-Disney, and not YouTube.
They're just looking at all content watched, and tracking which company in the end, owns that content.
