I am going to WDW in August. I want to stay at a nice resort but not spend a ton. Of the Moderate resorts which is the nicest and worth the money? I have stayed at the Caribbean Beach resort but its been 8 years ago. So I need some new insight.

My favorite moderate is Dixie, excuse me, Port Orleans Riverside. It is really a beautiful resort. It really should be in the deluxe category!

I agree. Port Orleans Riverside was beautiful. I just returned last Friday. I would stay there before I would any of the deluxe resorts.

We are trying POFQ on our next trip. We liked the idea of it being a smaller resort. We stayed a Coronado about 10 years ago. We loved the rooms and pool, but hated the largeness of the resort and it was a hike to the lobby for some food.

You can not go wrong with either PORS or FQ. Both are beautiful resorts with great layouts, theming and amenities. Rack rate is around $170 per night but you can get AP rates around $100 depending on when you go.

I just got back from Port Orleans French Quarter a few weeks ago for the first time and absolutely loved it. I do not think I will go back to any other resort! For the most part there was very little busing through Riverside stops. I got on at our stop and went directly to the parks. A couple times goiing home we stopped thru Riverside, not sure about the rhyme and reason. You also have boat taxi service available to DTD. It's smaller, regardless of the location of your building I don't think it would be far to the main building. pool, or bus stops. In addition, if you have kids they have an awesome pool with a water slide.
Wherever you end up, have a great trip!

Been to POR, POFQ and CBR. Return to POFQ whenever possible. Smaller, more quiet, one bus, easy to walk to food court (yum...beignets!!!!!) and pool. Great theming. Just seems more intimate than the other mods we have stayed at, and when we aren't staying deluxe, it is our first choice.

French Quarter Rules

We have stayed just about every where and there is no place better than French Quarter for atmosphere. I just wish we could move the beds from the Contemporary to the French Quarter. I'll be bringing my own down feather pads on this trip....LoL:lol:
