I've never had officiating take away from a sport like hockey is at this point. The guy leading the league in scoring by 10 points gets crosschecked and taken out of the game in shift 1, and Chris's Lee has the gull to say he didn't think it was malicious. Same guy then does it AGAIN putting another super star face first into the boards and drawing blood, and the same refs decide that's not malicious. Then dude ignores a hand pass. Sorry, I know this should be as exciting as it gets going to game 7, but this is unwatchable to me. A sport that refuses to protect superstars in favor of protecting goons will never make headway in the United States.

Last night's game was a nail biter. I was happy to see Kuch and Cernak back. I can't believe it was won by a single short-handed goal. The next series promises to be quite fun.
By the way, I saw someplace that Chris Lee was "backup" last night. Looks like other referees were assigned.

The Islanders played the Flyers in 1980 and they were both in the Patrick Division.

ESPN makes it official: Sean McDonough and Steve Levy will be the main NHL play-by-play team for their broadcasts.
Interesting to note the difference in broadcast team assembly here. Whereas ESPN is looking at insiders as well as NHL legends to provide their coverage, Turner is mostly hiring NBC guys trying to avoid the unemployment line.

And in a few months the whole network will be gone for good.
Sadly it won't decrease are cable bills, but at least there's less crap in the guides.

Gonna rephrase.
The Canadians are not the 2nd best team in the NHL.
It is disappointing that they are in the Stanley Cup Finals.
How's that?
