Exactly. Everything remains the same save for the room you wait in. I would much rather be able to move around than be hemmed in like cattle. Some interesting points brought up. I can understand the enjoyment of a typical themed queue, I've never been upset waiting for Pirates, except those time when the line loops out beyond the indoor area. All of the 'what ifs' are really nothing more than problems that exist already, and they would likely be addressed similarly to what is already in place (Notification of downtime, FastPass offered for later in the day or another attraction).
What this would handle are some current 'what ifs', such as a child saying "I need to go to the bathroom" halfway through a 90 minute line. With a queue without a line, you'd be free to use the restroom while waiting for your turn to ride. And of course nothing can improve a ride's efficiency, other than altering the attraction itself, but this would improve efficiency of how you spend your time. You can use the hour you would be waiting in line to have lunch, thereby merging two things you were going to do separately into one.
It may seem far fetched now because it is very different than anything being done elsewhere, but I don't believe they are leaving this technique as a one time use for Dumbo. It could be a revolutionary system that would separate Disney from the competition in yet another unique way.
It should not increase ticket prices by more than $100 per day. Value resorts should top out at $1000/night max.I do have another question. How much is this going to increase the cost to going to WDW? After all they have to pay for all these mini malls that have to be bought and operated. Also do they really have the real estate area to put these mini malls in? After all The Land mini mall is a very large complex.
Completely agree, standing in line that is well themed is part of the experience, it can add a backstory to the ride and queueing allows excitement to build I think, walking straight onto a ride too often makes it slightly less exciting even if that does sound a bit wierd!
