Next Special Offer?

So obviously the next special offer won't become available until April 1st at the earliest. My wife says she thinks that the next offer will be free dining. Anyone have any input on what it may or may not be? How soon it becomes public? Hoping to book a birthday/pre-birthday trip mid-to-end August.

I've been tracking historical data on Mousesavers and the next round of free dining typically hits in April. If it follows the same pattern as last year...the room discounts for those dates followed a little while later.

I also anticipate the free dining offer for the August thru later September time period, to be offered first to Disney Visa card holders and then the public.

When I called reservations they tried to sell me the Dinning Plan, I said I would only get it if it was free. She said we are not going to offer free dinning this year. I'm not saying I believe her because she was trying to sell it to me. But, it has been talked about before that it would be phased out.

I also don't think people decide to go to Disney because of Free Dinning. The only reason they would offer it is if they can't fill the restaurants. Room discounts however, help get people on property when they would normally stay offsite or get people to upgrade up a class if they can't fill the moderate or deluxe resorts. Discounts don't really get more people into the parks just into the resort and restaurants at least that's my opinion.

Uh, I was under the impression that Free Dining was established to help fill the resorts/parks/restaurants during off-seasons? And you can chalk us up as part of the group that comes for Free Dining. Would we still go without it, yes. Would we pay for it, hell no. There's no way I'd come out of pocket for over $1k for that food. While it is quite edible I would not pay that much for it.

And there's quite a few people that I've seen on the Disney FB page and other Disney related pages that have said they won't be able to go or wouldn't go if Free Dining wasn't offered.

Im in the same boat of most of you...though ive booked the trip for 8/11 to 8/16 already...a new discount offer means I could add an extra day and still probably save money ;-)

From what I have been hearing is that IF FD is offered it might only be available for guests staying at Moderate and Deluxe resorts and it will only be the QS meal plan. Again this is just speculative!
