Next 'land' for Hollywood Studios

Disney will never get the rights to Spiderman or Fantastic 4 or even any of the Avengers in their parks. Universal Studios owns them and will never sell it. Disney actually would not even be allowed to have the Name Marvel in any of the parks, but with Guardians and Dr. Strange, it would have to be called "super hero land" or something like that.

As I am reading about it now, it appears only Disney Land would be able to have the super heros. Marvel in any way shape or form is not allowed in Disney world.

You are correct, I got excited with my point of they could do more with marvel by the time it rolls along, and I shouldn't have stated all. The thing is the marvel universe is huge and there are characters that they could use such as guardians. Disney has great lawyers and I'm sure they are looking for every loop hole they can find but so does universal and I'm sure they will do everything they have to, to ensure they don't slip up (I'm looking at you its a wonderful life**) such as upkeep of rides. Id rather not have marvel (seems too six flags to me) I would rather they use the old school Disney, Pixar Indy, classic live action disney movies (rocketeer etc) or even a totoro ride. My point is we never thought they would own lucas, or even marvel years ago so by the time this happens the landscape might have changed.
I will edit my post.
I see you also saw the Disney name issue, I wasn't aware of that before today either.
and if anyone is bored here is the contract.https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1262449/000119312510008732/dex1057.htm
and heres a breakdown of it

** At the end of the initial 28-year copyright term in 1974, a clerical mistake prevented the copyright owner of It’s a Wonderful Life from filing a renewal application, and the movie went into the public domain. TV studios, eager for inexpensive content to show during the holidays, began showing the movie every year because they were not required to pay any royalties while the film was in the public domain.

Not that Disney is complaining too loudly on this. They can still use the Marvel heroes as a draw to get people booking cruises, and they are also getting tons of merchandise money from Universal. Every time you buy a Hulk roller coaster T-shirt, Disney gets their cut.

Its weird how the contract works. It says Marvel is not allowed in any Disney involvement anywhere east of the Mississippi. However, in Disney World, they do sell Groot and other GOTG Toys, with the Name "Marvel" right on the box. So for some reason, they are allowed limited merchandise, but I guess no character presence.

they can sell anything they want in their stores so a marvel toy isn't against the rules. But none of Disney including California can use it in a theme park ... example Marvel land... or Disney marvel store.. instead its super hero store (this is going to bother me now, because I'm going to really notice it now).

where is that? Florida, California? That's really odd because according to the internet and the original legal stuff they couldn't. I'm sure its probably a loophole they found or an agreement they made. Very interesting... I was depending on the internet since I'm in Oklahoma and couldn't fact check it in person. Sorry for the misinformation.

maybe Disney springs or downtown Disney isn't considered part of a theme park so its ok? assumption and I'm not even sure where the pic is from

I think it is in Disney Springs. It would be allowed there, because there would be no legal ramifications to prevent Disney from opening up a merchandise store. But as for inside Disney World Parks, it appears that they can only get away with it for Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise. The reason I assume this, is because inside some of the gift shops in the park, they sell GOG figurines. However, there are no Thor, Iron Man Etc being sold there. So If Disney could sell anything other than GOG, they would most definitely do it.

Looking based on Disney California Adventure's makeover there are 7 sections or lands to that park.
How many sections does Hollywood Studios have as of now including Toy Story & Star Wars Lands (?) anyone know. 7 lands seems to be similar to Disneyland/Magic Kingdom. If they redevelop similar to DCA then
7 lands would complete DHS to it's own glory too!
I vote for since Cars 3 features Florida have that work out as a chance for a Radiator Spring's Racer's type attraction same themed to Cars it could be different for DHS if not Epcot in the future decides after GM contract ends they could take Test Track and implement Pixar Cars to It. Perhaps like Cars 2 spy chase inside the building with along Cars 3 The Florida Speedway, Training Center with the simulator which test track is perfect for!
Let Florida have Cars also in Cars 2 & 3 mode. California can have the classic Radiator Springs of the First Movie.

Toy Story
Star Wars
Hollywood

And that's it for 'lands'.

Yes, DHS has 'areas' like Echo Lake, but that's more of the greater Los Angeles - Hollywood area. The hub is dominated by the Chinese Theater... from Hollywood. Hollywood and Sunset Blvds? More Hollywood.

Animation Courtyard? Ehh... It's not much of a themed land. With the mishmash of studio facades... Hollywood.

I guess the Star Tours / Jedi Academy was a mini-land unrelated to Hollywood or movie-making.

And Muppet Courtyard? Movie making (Muppetvision 3D!)... which is Hollywood.

The studio was once just one giant land: Hollywood. It was LA locations and giant studio buildings. TSL and SW:GE are the first two areas carved out to be separate lands that aren't Hollywood themed.

While I agree with others that the next likely attraction will be star wars related beyond that there's two directions TDO can go. They can replace Indy Which isn't outside of the realm of possibility due to the cost to run the attraction and the deaths and injuries that have plagued the attraction over the last 10 years. On the other hand Animation Courtyard is a dire need of updated attractions and with SWL opening The animation building will once again be empty. Depending on how aggressive TDO decides they are going to be I wouldn't put it past them to work both sites at the same time while also installing the SWL expansion. If nothing else the animation building will revert to a big meet and greet while Indy will be closed and only used for special events until it's eventual demise after 2021.

I would love to see Monstropolis come to Hollywood Studios. Maybe have a Harryhausen's restraint, along with Mike and Sulley's apartment as a meet and greet, with all the little shops and food places seen in the movies. I think all of this should replace The Jedi Training: Training of the Temples, Star Tours: The Adventure Continue, and the Backlot Express. And what I think would be creative is if they added Monsters University towards the back of that section (meaning the backstage buildings). They could add all the Fraternity and Sorority houses in 1 circle, and have some type of Scare Games attraction. I think that would be an amazing addition.
