Next Gen Queue Confirmed for Peter Pan?

This got deleted the first time, so I will try a different approach. There are rumors circulating online that PPF will receive an interactive queue during a refurb (no closing) that will begin next week. Apparently, the news has been shared with cast members. Can anyone confirm this?

As someone noted in the previous thread, the timing is interesting as most expected a refurbishment to take place after the new FL restroom area was finished. With the limited amount of space in that area, I would imagine the interactive elements would be fairly constrained. Thoughts?

We've known about this one since March 2011 http://www.wdwmagic.com/Attractions...former-Skyway-Station-to-become-restrooms.htm
but the timing has been largely up in the air. It would certainly seem to make sense to get this going before the rest of the FL expansion starts to open up. It may be done in phases, with parts being done before the new restrooms are done, and the rest completed further out. I don't have any specific info on the timetable.

January 16th to March 6th? That doesn't seem like a whole lot of time.

If the queue pieces were prefab, then all they would need time for would be to demo the restrooms. Plus, with the access gate right next to IASW, getting crews in and out would be fairly easy (compared to HM or Pooh) Perhaps that's why its such a short window?

I think I was just hoping that they would roll in a full refurb of the ride as part of the queue enhancements.

That's what I was hoping and somewhat expecting also. I was hoping they would wait until Mermaid and Beast open and then put PP down for the 6 month refurb it needs so badly.

It's possible they still may (although not as park of the queue enhancements). FLE would give them them the "cover" they woud need to take PP (or Philharmagic) down for some needed work.

What about building the new restrooms? Would they want to close the existing ones before the new ones were open? There was a notice of commencement for Skyway Restroom issued back in November, but they don't appear to actually started work yet.

You mentioned PhilharMagic as well - I absolutely love that show, but think that it could be even better.

First, the 3D when the stage is set up is lousy, once it gets to the three giant screens it works a lot better because everything is that much larger. There is still the glow/show effect in many scenes (most notably on Lumiere when he's against a black background)

Second and admittedly on the far fetched wish list would be to have multiple shows. I understand that the transitions as they are now work pretty well, but I would love to see 2 or more options for every scene. The other option would be to lengthen the show by one full song. It's not a capacity issue, especially after New Fantasyland.

Some songs that could be added:
Bare Necessities - Jungle Book
Friend Like Me - Aladdin (I know that A whole New World is already in there)
Whistle While You Work, Heigh Ho or Someday my prince will come - Snow White
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - Mary Poppins (not sure if it could work in CG)
You'll Be in my Heart - Tarzan
Zip-a-dee-doo-da - Song of the South
Colors of the Wind or Just Around the Riverbend - Pocahontas
When You Wish Upon a Star - Pinocchio
What's This - Nightmare Before Christmas (Again, could be tough with the CG issue)
You've Got a Friend in Me - Toy Story
I'll Make a Man Out of You - Mulan
Merry Unbirthday - Alice in Wonderland
You can also pick songs from Tangled or Princess and the Frog as well

I think these songs would go nicely on PM

Great songs! I'd really love to see "I See the Light" from Tangled in Philarmagic. I can totally see Donald flying on the magic carpet around the floating lanterns! Beautiful scene.

Anyways, to stay on topic... Pan definitely needs a refurb, it deserves it! It is such a good ride! But the interactive queue is a great idea for this attraction b/c this queue can be so miserable (without FASTPASS), so I'm glad they're doing this! Kind of surprised that most everyone was kind of late on the news that they started work on Monday..I sure was!

This is what I wish they'd do with Philharmagic. There's plenty of ways to handle the transitions. And it would accomplish reridability in a way that can rarely be done with movie presentations. I'm pretty sure this is a digital projection, so it shouldn't be a big deal to swap sequences, even randomly.

If only we could be so lucky. I get the feeling that a PPF refurb will be a looonnnggg way off.

That's what I was hoping and somewhat expecting also. I was hoping they would wait until Mermaid and Beast open and then put PP down for the 6 month refurb it needs so badly.

I think 6 months would be optimistic. :lookaroun

It sounds like there are some serious issues with building code in Peter Pan, specifically how ADA and other safety standards work in the event of evacuation. These can be big, big issues, as demonstrated by the haphazard refurb of Disneyland's Alice in Wonderland (which looks awful). A Peter Pan refurb would likely have to install stairways at many points throughout the ride, which itself might require reshuffling some scenes around or installing new walkways. Disney would also be wise to consider using the refurb to switch to DLP's 4-person vehicles, doubling ride capacity and thereby addressing the attraction's ridiculous wait times. Factor in the AA tuneups and any special effects that they may wish to add (hopefully, some of the star effects like Disneyland's or the fiber-optic Pixie Dust effect from DLP), and I wouldn't be surprised if a Peter Pan refurb took almost a year.

I'd love to see the ride refurbed too but the queue will be nice also. Are they planning to keep the tent look on the outside or will it get something more themed like Pooh got in the overhaul?

In terms of Philharmagic, I agree song swapping would be a great idea and I really like the Tangled idea. However, I feel the Lion King section is by far the weakest part of the show. All the other sequences are so rich and detailed and the lion king section looks like flat paper cut outs. It could be so much better.
