We are looking to plan a disney cruise in a couple of years, but are starting to research now so we can figure out exactly how much to expect to spend. Our kids aren't school age so we can travel whenever. We've cruised before, but not with disney and not frequently, but we know we like it.

What we are trying to figure out now is the length of the cruise. If we chose a 5-day, we could afford a couple days at the parks. If we choose a 7-day, we could not to the parks. Is the 5-day, plus parks the best of both worlds? Or will we wish we'd just spent the time really focusing on this trip and then doing the parks separately (which we do plan to do when the kids are a bit older). Also, the 5-day looks like it would have to be on the Wonder whereas the 7-day could be on the Fantasy. Does that away your opinion?

Like I said, we are in the very beginning of planning, so we are just trying to get a sense of what we might want and what it will cost. Thanks in advance!

I always say longer is better. The three nights are much too short, by the time you unpack you're packing again! I would take it over nothing, for sure, but I recommend a minimum of 4 nights. We loved our 5 night cruise, it was a great length. But throw in the other factor of Wonder vs. Fantasy, and I'd go Fantasy. You'll have other chances to go to the parks. Make this trip about the cruise. :)

If you already know that you'll be visiting the parks in the next year or so, I would take a 7-night sailing. The exception would be if you were able to get a 5-night "double-dip" itinerary (2 stops at Castaway Cay). JMO.

I would definitely go with the 7 night cruise on the Fantasy since you have cruised before. The Fantasy is an absolutely gorgeous ship and you will love it. I attended the christening of this ship in New York and sailed on the pre-inaugural cruise and it was just off the charts amazing. I would wait and do Disney world with another trip later so that you can concentrate on that with young children.

I agree with Pam. If you do the five, you're going to wish you had a couple more nights, plus the Fantasy is just incredible. You NEED the extra couple nights to do all the cool stuff on the ship! Enjoy!!!

Speaking from some experience, the parks almost seem a let down after the cruise. You then have to start paying for food again and the upkeep and the CMs don't seem to have the same enthusiasm as those on the ship. If you were to do a land/sea, do the sea after the parks. Either way, you'll have fun. Keep asking questions, we are here to help.

Plus the bathrooms in the parks aren't nearly as cool as the ship bathrooms. :)
