New Years Eve at Epcot

I am hoping somebody can help me out a little.

My family is planning to spend New Years Eve at Epcot. I have an ADR book for a New Years Eve buffet at the Epcot World Showplace. The event is themed to the Fantasia movies.

When I booked the event the cast member mentioned that there was a preferred viewing area for the fireworks at midnight. I have searched until my eyes went blurry, but I can't seem to find too much information about the evening beyond the theme and the buffet.

Has anybody ever experienced this event or knows more information and where I can find it. The preferred viewing is the main reason for booking the event and I want to make sure it will be worth the money spent.

Thanks for the help!

The preferred viewing area is between the two "out posts" directly across the lagoon from the American adventure where future world meets the world showcase.
Wow! Thanks for the reply. That spot looks like a great spot to view from. I am sure it will still be crowded but hopefully we won't have to scope out a spot hours in advance.

We were there 2012/13 and during the day was horrible. the lines for the bathrooms were worse than the rides. We watched the early show and went back to our room. We could see some of the midnight ones from our room. Have a great trip, I would still do it again. LOL

We've done WDW 3 times at NYE. Once at EPCOT and twice at DHS (MGM). I see no reason to do it at MK sayyou can see the same fireworks show on 12/30. EPCOT wAs crazy busy and fun but once was enough and that was with being able to stay at the BC so we could walk right back to our room after the fireworks. DHS was wonderful. It was great having a nice dinner at the Brown Derby then being able to go on some rides and seeing a rare fireworks show in the park that wasn't related to Fantasmic. EPCOT is awesome if you don't mind crowds and don't mind not being able to go on many rides. DHS is a park that hardly ever closes so you can show up later after having hung out at your pool or MK during the day and still have a great NYE party!

I had thought about going to DHS, but have some great memories from going to Epcot as a teenager at New Years and wanted my daughter to be able to experience it. She has always wanted to do Times Square for New Years so this should be a warm up for her. I am hoping that having some preferred viewing because of our reservations might make things a little easier.

If the viewing area is where @DVC4bestvacations is located things should be good.

Can you tell me how you got the ADR for the NYE buffet at World Showplace? I called Disney Dining today and she said it didn't show up on her system and I couldn't find it on the web site. Thanks so much!

I had mentioned to the CM about a NYE boat cruise to view the Illuminations show and she checked for it and found the NYE buffet. She must have looked at a different list of reservations.

I did call back to confirm some of the things that she mentioned the next morning and I was transferred to the Disney Special Event Reservations line. So I am assuming that if you want to find a reservation try and call there (407-WDW-PLAY).

I still have not found any concrete information on the event anywhere on the MDE website that goes into detail about the preferred viewing and have booked a back up reservation for the same night at Chefs de France. I am going to take @DVC4bestvacations word seeing that they seem to be Disney regulars.

Good luck hunting.

Maybe we will see you down there.:)

Thanks! I was able to finally track down someone that could book this for me! I got a 7:10 slot, so maybe we will have a chance to see each other :) I, too, have a backup reservation; however, I noticed that it showed up right away as Epcot New Year's Eve in my MDE as a dining reservation.

Glad to hear that everything went well for you. It shows up for me as well in my MDE, my only concern is that I don't see any mention of preferred viewing. Our reservation is for 8 pm, so we will definitely be in the building at the same time.

I am going to post a pre-trip report with pictures once I make my FP+ ressies, so you might recognize us.:p
