Does anyone have any tips for spending New Years at WDW? Our kids are 12 and 16 and we are only staying for two days - the 30th and 31st. Just a quick blast down there and back. Any advice? Thanks

Have patience!!!

The parks are going to be at their busiest. As I would recomend at anytime, ride the usually busy rides at the times the parades are going on. Last time I was there for new years, Haunted Mansion and Country Bears were walk ons because every one was out watching the parades, and yes this was on New Years eve.

And if you're staying till midnight, have patience leaving too. It took me over 45 minutes to get from the hub to the train station.

New Year's Tips

First, go to one park and plan to stay all day. Park-hopping will be made difficult by the large crowds. The last New Year's Eve we were at WDW, the Magic Kingdom reached capacity in the morning and they weren't allowing anyone else in. The MK tends to be elbow to elbow for New Year's Eve. Epcot is crowded too, but with more space can more easily accomodate more people. There's lots of great live entertainment and just a generally fun atmosphere at Epcot. Epcot all the way.

Next Visit: Nov. 23, 2006 Port Orleans French Quarter:xmas:

I'd say (as someone else mentioned) be on the look out for special shows and entertainment.

my family and I were there quite a few years ago and the doobie brothers were playing in MGM Studios for new years.. so my dad and I stood in front of the stage all day holding our front row spot! It was a great show.:sohappy:

I will, undoubtably, be spending all of New Years Eve in Epcot, seeing as how CPs are required to work that day...I'd love to know what I have to look forwards too, I had no idea any of the parks besides the Magic Kingdom did anything special.
