Hey going to be spending new Years Eve in Disney, and I was wondering, where do you recomend me to go? What park is the best New Years Eve celebration?

One thing that has me worried is if I am going to be able to get into the parks, I heard from my girlfriend last time she went on new years eve, she got to Magic Kindom Late around 9 am and she could not get in becuase it was full...

My question is:

Lets say I make it inside the park, and I leave around noon and get my hand stamped. Does that hand stamp Mean I have a garantee entrace to the park once again no matter if the park is full or not?

I ask this cuz Im going to be with my family, 2 parents and my 10 year old brother. and were obviously are not going to be in a park from 8 am till 1am... So I want to get this thing off my head...

Thanks!

ANything else I should know please share!

Yeah, I'm spending New Year's Eve at the Magic Kingdom as well =) I have heard that they are the best for New Year's Eve and I have not seen Wishes yet so maybe it will be an extra long version of that fireworks show. I have no idea how crowded it gets though... :veryconfu

I leading more into epcot since there is much more avaliable space than on magic Kindom.

But does anyone know about the hand stamp,

Can I go back in with the Stamp on if the park is full? You know what stamp Im talking about? The invisible stamp only visible with a black light? Do they still do that?

or do you guys plan to stay at the park 8am-1am Straight?

Im not a resort guest... They are too expensive.

Hey Mike. It pains me to give you advice, since I am an Astro fan. But my Disney connection to you overrides baseball loyalty i guess. :D

Anyway, I can tell you that I spent last New Years Eve in Epcot (ALL DAY). I was affraid to leave the park, b/c I didn't want to chance leaving. You may not get back in. I can warn you of this. If you plan on riding things like Test Track, MS, etc. GET THERE EARLY. We rode TT when the park opened, and when we came back the wait was 4 hours (yes, that's right). The park became extremely crowded as the day went on. Make sure you have PS before you get to the park, so that you can eat. The counter service eateries are a complete mess because of all of the people.

Have fun, but be aware that it WILL be very crowded. If you have any other questions, I will do my best to answer them.

PS. ROE was awesome for New Years.

Whats a PS? " make sure you have PS so you can eat?"

Till what time are rides open that day??

I believe all the attractions will remain open all day long.... But it sounds pretty bad at that time of year! It doesn't sound like WDW it sounds like a total nut house! 4 hours for TT??? Maybe you should hit MGM that day? I think it is less popular than Epcot (I wont advise on DAK 'cause they don't have anything special):brick: :brick: :brick:

How many can they hold in all the parks together at the same time?

I really thought that the parks would clear up after Jan 1st, but they were pretty busy for the whole week I was there. I left on Jan 4th, and the crowds did look a little better.

A PS is basically a reservation for eating (Priority Seating). I would majke them before you go to WDW.

Last year my fiancee and I went down for Christmas & New Years instead of our normal time during value season in mid December and it was awsome. Hey either MK or EPCOT, it dosen't matter they are both great. We went to EPCOT around 4pm after spending all day at MK. We ate at Alfredo's the best resturant in town and watched not one but two versions of Illuminations one @ 9 and one @midnight. Also the one @ midnight went from country to country setting off fireworks in order of the country's time zone entering the new year..ending w/ America @ 12 midnight and this was all in the pouring rain!! That's right it rained forever and it was big "florida" rain. But the show went on and it was great. They also set up a dance floor in the middle of the fountain plaza, where they have dance music for any teens/college kids. They had another dance floor in front of the China pavillion. It was pretty crowded despite the rain. We went to the MK for character breakfast early @ 8:25 so we were garunteed a place in the park, as I said we stayed until 4pm before heading over to EPCOT. MK was very crowded but still loads of fun. Hope this helps.

you went to epcot at 4pm? and you got in no problem? was it pouring rain at 4pm??

I was planning to do that... But since they told me that it might be full I don't know what I might be doing...

Anyways, Does anyone know if I can ask for attendance info in guest relation or any information that would let know if I can leave the park and return later??

another thing..

Where can I do this Priority Seating?

You can call 1-407-WDW-DINE to make your priority seating.

Occasionally (on busy days like Christmas or NYE) they my require a $10 deposit to hold your "reservation." It's refundable up until 24 hours before your time, I believe. I could be mistaken!

I'll be at Epcot this year too. It's my favourite park, so that's the plan!

There are enough very good counter service restaurants that I'm not going to worry about a PS.

I'll look for you! <g>

We generally go to WDW for new years. We will be at the Magic Kingdom again this year, you will find us sitting on the bridge to Tomorrowland watching the fireworks at midnight (unless is pours again this year!). You can read my trip report from last year to give you an idea on crowds.

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18176

If you know what your doing, chill, take your time, the crowds really aren’t too bad. You will want to get there early, we usually show up at the main gate at least one hour before the posted opening time. Since you can’t leave the park you need a rest strategy. If you need a nap, take in one of the Christmas shows or the Hall of Presidents show for a quick pick me up! Stop and rest at one of the counter service restaurants. Or stop and people watch, it can be one of the most entertaining things to do at WDW!

Do i have to know which restaurant I want to eat in when I call???
Cuz honestly I have never eaten in an eatery at WDW. And I don't know any Restaurants in the WDW area.

Another Question I had...

Can you chek out Disney Resorts like the animal Kindom Lodge with out staying at a disney resort? Can Anyone just go in and chek things out?:veryconfu

another one...
My trip is from Dec. 26 till January 5
and Im doing the whole Orlando Package, Sea World, Bush Gardens, Universal & islands of adventure. Are there any special dates between that time to visit a disney park besides Dec 31st??
I guess the rest of the those days a regular Christmas Days just like anyother? 27,28,29,31,1,2,3,4.

Another thing... How are crowds at Cirques Du Soile at those dates?? How many days in advance do I have to purchase tickets??? Same with Medival Times... Can i get the tickets for those palces the same day, or do you advice to buy them in advance??

:king:

nice report tom! btw

After thinking about it, Who was it that told me that if I stayed at a resort I could get into the park no matter what???

Where can I find a web page that says this on writing??

If this is true, I might consider staying at a resort for a few days...

If anyone can link me to a web page where it says that

Hands down, the best place to go on New Years is the Studios. The crowds aren't as bad there, the lines are tolerable, and you don't have to get there early to get in the gate. In fact, going late in the day is the best thing.

Now, here are some tips as how park compacity fills up:

A park is considered full when it's parking lot is full. For the Disney-MGM Studios, an overflow lot is also used. (Sometimes it's Wide World of Sports or Blizzard Beach)

Admission Stages:

Normal: 1 day tickets are for sale at the gate. Parking is available at the park.
Stage 2: No tickets are for sale, you must have a multi-day ticket to enter. Limited parking is available and allowed only for multi day ticket holders and Disney Resort Guests.
Stage 3: No parking is left including any overflow lots. Only guests bussed in from the resorts are allowed to get to the park.
Stage 4:
No entry except to Cast Members and Mr. Eisner. :hammer:

Notice that Stage 4 hasn't happened in the last two years.

Mr. Eisner was eating at the Hollywood Brown Derby in the Disney-MGM Studios on the 1999-2000 New Year's Eve. So was I.

That gives you a rundown of getting back in. Now for the actual park, here's what makes the Studios the best:

Sorcery in the Sky. Sorcery in the Sky. Sorcery in the Sky.
:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Okay, now to answer a few more questions.

Anyone can visit a Disney Resort to look around. But you can't go swimming in the pool there. So, you could, in a sense, go to the Polynesian to look around, go to the Magic Kingdom, and then have a drink in the Tambu Lounge afterwards. (The Lounge is open till 12 midnight)

Don't be afraid of the little 3 hr. parking pass they usually give you, it's just to scare people who decide to park at the polynesian and take the monorail to the MK and have no intention of looking at the Polynesian and eating or shopping there. Also, Disney doesn't tow cars from parking lots unless the car is blocking something such as a way to exit. So don't be afraid to park at a resort and look around.

Sorcery in the Sky?

Your comparing the firework show from Magic Kindom and Epcot with socery in the Sky??

Is it a new show, or is it still the same as the old one?

I mean I admit it has to look cool with the big Micky hat and all, but I don't know if it compares with the other shows...

Long time no see...

Is socery in the sky going to be showing any other night besides the 31st?
