New 'Wilderness Explorers' game play testing in Disney's Animal Kingdom

I have said for a while that Kim Possible should be redone as an Agent P game.

As for the game at DAK, I love the idea, makes Disney Parks more unique, and helps make DAK a little more than a 1/2 day park

Except Doofensmirtz only wants to conquer the Tri-State Area and aside from a few special episodes, there isn't much world travel in the show.
Kim Possible may be off the air, but it's globe-trotting themes make it fit World Showcase just fine. If Disney ever bothered to put out full season DVD box sets or bring back the walkarounds to Epcot, that could extend the life of that theme a little.

If they did go with a new theme, go with Scrooge McDuck and treasure hunting around the world.

This will never happen, but I think a ________ Tracy detective agency in DHS would be great for a theme there, or if not that, something film noir, hard-boiled style. That would fit in with the 30s and 40s.

That is a GREAT idea!

Ahhh, the death of the passive entertainment experience. Entertain me! or else!

World showcase is about atmosphere, and the experience, finding your special moments, searching the nooks and exploring the cultures presented.. maybe even leaving a little better for it. To as smaller point, this is similar to AK. That is why so many people skip the trails, and run to Everest.

The only thing missing in World showcase is a roller coaster.

I don't see how the two are mutually exclusive.

I love the WS and enjoy just strolling around, checking it out.

But we were drawn to sections I probably never would have seen before because of the KP Adventure.

I think it is great.

Btw, there are fans who don't want to change everything and don't hate every change. It's the other 99% of fans, who like some changes, yearn for others, and hope some classics stay the same.

Have you read these forums? Pick a thread and it will be one of 2 conversations, either the new thing is terrible (yes, many people already seem to be feeling this way about FLE) or why did they get rid of the old thing (adventurers club, PI in general) etc. There is enough genuine conversation (like this thread) to keep my interested, but it can be hard to find while weeding through the jungle of "it used to be so much better" and "its getting old why don't they just replace it" chatter.

Back on topic... When Disney does what it does really well, they find a balance. ie, splash mountain.. off the shelf log ride done the Disney way. When they miss the balance you get DinoLand. Part of that balance is passive and active mixes of attractions. I like the quaint WS environment, but have no problem if they thrill ride the heck out of future world. AK is not so clear. The passive and active attractions are mixed more together.

I like the idea of this game, but I truly enjoy the AK. Not every inch, I stroll through Dinoland, do Dinosaur and move on. I think a game like this would be a perfect way to add to to AK. If they were to add another land (Australia or maybe the oceans) then I think AK would be well on its way to being an excellent park.

I think these interactive games are perfect for the parks.

First, we just played KP at Epcot and my DD7 loved it. We did China and Mexico. Great concept and there is a real presence with all the KP carts around World Showcase.

It is great that Disney is adding this to the MK with Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Perfect theming going against the Villains. Just like Fantasmic and all the Kingdom Keepers books.

As for the Animal Kingdom, love the idea of Up! being added as they did travel to South America and encountered Kevin the bird. Great concept that I hope will get more people and kids to visit The Oasis area and the other lands.

For Disney's Hollywood Studios, love the idea that was brought up for ________ Tracy. Just like the attraction that was supposed to open, it could be called ________ Tracy's Crime Stoppers and each person can be a junior detective.
Nice film noir touches would make this really cool.

I also like the idea of a Roger Rabbit type of game with Eddie Valiant. I think there is some copyright issues with the Roger Rabbit character (not sure if this is resolved with Spielberg). But a great way to also bring in the 1940s element, which would suit the Studios perfectly.

Great thing about this technology is that once the system is tested and rolled out (like it is in Epcot) the system only has to be copied and new props added. This does bring a new element into the parks, which if you want to participate, great, if not, fine. As long as the storylines match the park and the lands, I am all for it.

Now just get us some more attractions in DHS, Epcot, and DAK and I'll be happy.
Dunkin Donuts used to have as their slogan, "it's time to make the donuts". Disney should adapt it to "it's time to make more attractions."

These interactive games are geared towards REALLY little kids. Like the Kim Possible game is pretty lame if you ask me. All you do is carry around a cell phone, which tells you exactly where to stand, then you press a button and something happens. Then you stand over here, press a button and something happens. After you've done this 5 or 6 times you've saved the world and you drop your cell phone button in a container and off you go. And everytime I've done it, which has been 3 times, Im always following right behind someone else who is doing the same thing before me so I usually see the outcome beforehand. So its really just me walking up and pressing the button on my own so I can see it again. Yay.

You know what is even lamer?

Being in a boat looking at stuff on either side of you. And get this! It's the same thing the people in front of you saw!

Lame.

I agree with the previous poster who said that these distractions are great and all but can we get some freaking attractions? I've never been a fan of any of this NextGen stuff, to me that's what Angry Birds was created for, to distract you for a short period of time. Meanwhile half the attractions are falling apart and are covered up so no one will notice. It just seems like they're focusing too much on these touch screens and not on the attractions that are begging to be repaired.

I disagree if someone is in front of you I can see that as being annoying. Having said that, the technology involved is fascinating. I'm not into anything "kiddie" heck I hate most Disney movies but I love the Parks and attractions. KP is a winner for sure.

The WE game at DAK was analog, not digital - you carry around a paper folder and gather stickers. It was closer to the Race around the world game in Epcot than Kim Possible.

This most likely was due to this being "play testing" They certainly were not going to install a bunch of infrastructure for a WDI test. It is as much of a proof of concept as it was a event or game.

I don't know... Kim Possible was tested by installing Kim Possible hardware in the ground and in the walls. It didn't have a paper test that I know of.

Thats true, the Kim Possible tests that I saw were in some cases more impressive than the final product i.e. the talking toy soldier that was operated by someone back stage and not just automated.

why do 3 out of the 4 parks have this and is it really Necessary?

????

Why do 4 out of 4 have 3-D shows, wow do 4 out of 4 have parades?

Not sure why the Interactive Games spreading across more than one park should be different then everything else that is also spread throughout the parks.
