New WDW Commercial

First, the commercial is what it is... A paid advertisement to keep a company or product in the mind of consumers. If you've thought about it at all, then yes, it has done its job.
Do I like it? Yes, in fact I do, as any time I can see a glimpse of WDW or even DL on TV I would choose to see it, especially over the millions of other commercials I could be watching.

What is even funnier however, is how many feel they can say what a commercial SHOULD show, or SHOULD try to do... The Disney company decides that.

Also, just because anger enters the mix doesn't mean all grammar must leave...

I love the commercial because Walt is in it,that makes it special to me and makes me even want to go more, not that I needed another reason to go.:sohappy: To me even though Walt was not at Magic Kingdom(Florida) for the Grand Opening I think a part of him is felt all over WDW.
Well said. The ad did for me and my family what it seemed to be aimed at doing: create warm feelings about WDW and Walt's legacy -- and making us wish we could visit again soon!

I'm amazed at the accusations of deception, especially since they seem to be based just on perception rather than anything actually said in the ad. Lighten up, people -- it's a commercial, not a documentary.

The only time I see this being a problem is when WDW gets to it's 50th...If they promote it anywhere on the level they are promoting DL's 50th (which they should)...people might think...Didn't they just celebrate 50 a few years back!?! :lookaroun

Honestly, I think it's just this. DisneyWorld gets all the ads because;

Disneyworld is bigger and can hold more guests. So if anyone is going to hold a celebration, they should you the park that can fit it.

Being called DisneyWORLD, Of course they'd put a celebration of disneyparks all over the world in a place called DisneyWORLD and if that's where it's happeneing, that's where they're gonna advertise

Finally, if you took a poll, DisneyWorld would proboly be the most popular. And in the world of advertising it's always what popular that gets all the attention.

I don't think it's any great secret that Disney is centering this celebration at Disney World because it has 4 theme parks to spend money at as opposed to 2, and 20 resorts as opposed to 3. That's the only reason, it has nothing to do with it being a "global celebration of Disney parks around the world," that was just an excuse to take the attention off of Disneyland and put it on WDW.

Nah, WDW's 50th isn't until 2021. Luckily for Disney, by then the casual observer will have forgotten all about this. However, I'm sure there are people who don't understand why they're celebrating their 50th when they just celebrated the 100th not so long ago. :rolleyes:

A colleague of mine at work went to California and was in Disneyland on the actual 50th anniversary (NOT 05-05-05). When he got back he said it was really nice. And he really enjoyed California Disneyworld.

I just saw the commercial for the first time and I like it, but it's a bit confusing for anyone who isn't familiar with WDW and DL... It's Gene Hackman giving a shpeil about WDW and 50 years...

I do like seeing Walt in it. I think alot of kids these days don't even know who Walt Disney really is and I think that the way the Disney Channel is and even ABC, the kids get very little of what it was all about.

Change is good, but you very rarely see the characters - I'm surprised that they know what they do.

& do they even know who Annette Funicello was??? Doubt it.:) I had the kids in my family do the biography of WD for their first essay in school They were all surprised with the history. :) :)
