Chester and Hester's Dinorama is far and away the best example of this. It has a really elaborate backstory, but it's done so to explain away a bad product.This is part of what is wrong with Disney, ridiculous backstories. This is not a detail or theming. It is ridiculous fluff to try and explain something that really does not need explanation. Though it is not as bad as the whole Prince Charming Regal Carousel nonsense.
They could have kept that same backstory, and put in a mini land with a couple of C-ticket funhouse type rides and the execution would have been much better.
