New Trees Planted in Town Square

Hmmm.... well that type of tree actually looks promising. Hopefully they'll let them mature and put some firefly lights on them!

Those aren't trees...those are shrubs. Now, give them about 20 or 30 years and they will be nice mature trees, if horticulture gives them a chance to grow for that long (the magnolias in front of the Epcot ticket windows are a nice example of what these can eventually look like).

But I'm not a big fan of this variety over the previous trees, namely because they will look still look like shrubs for many years. I'm guessing someone in horticulture got tired of needing to trim the old trees down to scale, hence why we now have the magnolias.

I was able to see the magnolia’s in person today, and i assure you they are trees. They are a good 15-20ft tall. Definitely not shrub height. Either way in a years time the tree should grow outwards more and with the beautiful flowers it will bring in spring it will look much better.

Oh, I know they can grow into nice trees and have lovely flowers; its just that right now, they look more like really skinny but really tall shrubs. Considering the "legend" of Disney's planting crews (i.e., the supposed ability to replace a mature tree with a mature tree), its interesting horticulture didn't have/plant magnolias that are a few years older and more tree like.

these are the same breed of magnolia planted all over saratoga springs.
They will not grow wide enough for people to be able to really linger under for shade, like an oak, but will provide some shade. Nice to see though, I lve these Magnolias....
They wont keep all of their leaves, some will fall when the flower has lived its season out.
