New Transportation Option to/from MCO for Deluxe Resort Guests

The bubble popped for me once they took away DME. I never even considered renting a car before that, but once it was gone I realized how affordable the car rentals were.

Now not only do we plan a couple meals offsite each trip but when we get a good rate on the resort, we use it as a base to go to Universal and other Orlando attractions instead of more days at Disney parks. None of that would have happened if DME wasn’t removed.

You would do better money-wise to stay onsite at Universal then, and drive to WDW.

They’re already testing the “bags from the airport to your hotel” program again, right?

Nothing changes. Fly to MCO, leave your bags, they take them to your room.

Meanwhile, from the very same airport, get on the Brightline train to Disney Springs without your luggage.

Your bus/Uber/private car service/Minnie Van of choice will be much faster and cheaper from DS than from MCO (and no risk of highway traffic jams.)

Other options: book your ride from the airport, or, take the train but bring your luggage. Luggage rolls.

Plenty of solutions to meet every budget and preference.
Yeah. I was responding to the hypothetical of the train + bus from Disney Springs with luggage scenario and comparing it to what was previously offered with DME. I agree with the other poster. If they included the luggage delivery that would be better, but that wasn't the hypothetical presented.
The benefit of the train in Paris is it’s a 10 minute ride instead of an hour long drive, even with the transfer it’s a huge time saver, I think the same would be true in Orlando with how bad the traffic often is.
I haven't been to Paris. But would a train only be 10 minutes in Orlando? My response was just comparing your hypothetical to what was offered before with DME. I know the latter doesn't exist anymore, but it's a service Disney offered and if they replace it with an inferior service it is disappointing.

DME is not on the table.

Because they dumped it and raised the prices of everything 10 times each since…so why incur $0.01 of additional cost now?
That’s what’s so risible about this. It was a benefit to on site stays highly coveted by guests. The defenders will say, “Yeah, but it wasn’t free - you were paying for it.” Sure. But when it went away there was no commensurate drop in hotel rates or DVC fees. For the latter, I understand in 2021 Disney got some relief on property taxes, so that’s a double whammy of cost savings to the “owners” that seemingly never made their way to the “owners.” Welcome home, indeed!

One benefit to having a car - you can avoid the interminable and unpleasant waits for busses at the end of the night. I much prefer driving to say Epcot or DAK or DHS (MK is a whole different set of complexities).

Every Uber or Lyft is “private”…they don’t roll up in an old school bus.

I don’t see your point here?
Having someone meet you as you get off the plane and carry your luggage for you to the waiting car is a higher level of luxury than summoning an uber on the app and schlepping your luggage to the designated uber pickup area. I’m not saying it’s worth the $400 premium, I wouldn’t pay that, but It’s worth the regular premium that a place like Tiffany Tow Car charges to me (along with the double car seat).
