Very cool. Now i'm kinda mad I didnt get to ride it when i was down there in November. I've never rode it and the line was so INSANE that we skipped it.

I don't blame you for skipping it. Good game, not worth the hour long wait IMO.

Hopefully, Star Tours II will finally give TSMM some line relief. Or they could just eliminate FastPass and make everybody wait 30-40 minutes, as was the usual line at DCA when I was there two summers ago. It's odd -- the DHS TSMM is climate-controlled and wonderfully themed with a lot to look at and do, while the DCA line is horribly boring, outdoors, and cramped. So they give the DHS folks a fastpass opportunity to skip the queue, and make everybody at DCA wait in it.

That is only because as of now DCA doesn't draw the crowd it is supposed to.

That would be nice. For 20-30 minutes the ride is probably worth the wait. IMO beyond that and you're better off going somewhere else.

TSMM at DCA doesn't use FastPass. It makes the line move a lot quicker. TSMM is very popular at DCA, and the park has seen some very big crowds in the past few months. The shorter wait time is attributed to the lack of FastPass :)

TSMM is actually my favorite ride at the Studios so I think even an insane 60-minute wait is worth it! :lookaroun

Do we already know when it will be closing for the refurb?

Agreed but is is still skewed imo due to lack of people I could be wrong though.

No doubt the lack of crowds at DCA is part of the reason for the shorter line. But remember, when the crowds at DCA are up, so will the capacity, due to the new attractions.

Very cool. Seeing things like this make me think that the Parks are headed in the correct direction.

Same thing I posted in the HM queue thread. I'm not to the point of actually being optimistic, but I'm leaning that way.

This is great news! Hopefully it will be up and running smoothly when I get down there 5/21! New TSMM game, lots of rides on Rockin Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror, and Star Wars Weekend...I can't wait!!!

Fastpass on TSMM is fine - Soarin' was the same way back in '06. When Star Tours 2.0 opens and Star Tours is using Fastpass on a daily basis it will draw some of the crowds away from Toy Story. The problem is, that because it's a family attraction and is mildly addictive you get people doing it more than once per day. If you have more offerings in the park it will spread out the crowds.

Taking Fastpass off TSMM is a bandaid solution to a larger problem - the park needs more rides.

"The new Toy Story Mania! game, called “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts,” will involve shooting virtual darts at all new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons. You’ll be cheered on by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops, one of the toy characters from the new film) beginning in late May. Walt Disney Imagineering has also added some hidden surprises to the game that will be replacing 'Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop.' "

Seems that they are getting rid of Bo Peep from the ride and the Parade.

awesome I am pumped, but someone in the comments section asked if TSMM would be down at all. I am assuming it would not be because of the tecnology, but can anyone confirm if it will have to go down ?

It is a bandaid solution -- no question. But it would allow greater use of the queue, which is one of the attraction's strengths in comparison to others. You get little extra out of going standby on ToT or RnRC (really ambiance only), but going standby on TSMM allows you to see some fun stuff that, IMHO, can easily keep one amused for 30 minutes (except for the dreadful last five in the circus hallway, but even the fastpassers go through that piece).

There are a few solutions to the fastpass problems in the parks. The wrong choice is to limit the # of fastpass attractions. For the Studios, they should offer it on The Great Movie Ride right now, simply because the more Fastpass attractions that are in the system, the quicker the return window on some of the marquee attractions like Toy Story Mania.

In DHS, there are days when only 3 attractions run fastpass - that's a big reason why Toy Story's fastpasses are completely gone by noon on most days. If you were to implement fastpass on The Great Movie Ride, the people that acquire the fastpasses for that can't be getting fastpasses for Toy Story Mania, thus shortening the time between TSMM distribution and return. It will likely be small due to how dated The Great Movie Ride is right now, but it will be something.

The significant change will be over to Star Tours 2.0, because not only will it supplant TSMM as the newest thing in the park, but it also has a very high capacity and can handle Fastpass a bit better than TSMM. I expect when Star Tours opens up, that TSMM will see it's distribution be a bit more like Soarin' is now.

I also disagree with you on the queue for Tower of Terror, although admittedly, much of it is after or near the merge point so there's not really a substantial difference between the Fastpass and Standby queue.
