I am a Chicagoan. I was born just more than a couple of years before Walt Disney World opened, but well after Disneyland. I first visited Walt Disney World as a tot in October 1972. I was a little bit older when I first visited Disneyland in 1976. I was well into adulthood by the time I visited Disneyland Paris for the first time in 1999.
In the years since those first visits, I've made multiple visits to each of those places. I became a DVC Member in 2000.
I have tried to arrange a trip to Japan a number of times over the past couple of decades to also include a visit to Tokyo Disneyland, but the logistics never worked out.
I've been posting photos of my Disney visits (and other world travel) on the web since 1995! You can visit my website full of photos and videos of Disney sites and other sites around the world at ASDHollywood.com. I decided to join this Forum after seeing someone post a link to my recent YouTube upload (which was, like a number of other photos and videos over the years, first posted to ScreamScape.com at my request) of one of my family home movies from Walt Disney World, April 1973 (oops, it turned out the movie was even older than I thought: October 1972!). That and many of my other videos of places Disney and non-Disney can be found both on my website and on my YouTube channel ASDTubeU (alternate link for YouTube: try this.)
Just today I found a container full of mementos from visits to Walt Disney World in 1996, including the paper bags I received when I bought a few souvenirs. Since Disney has created "retro" versions of these for the upcoming 40th Anniversary, I decided to scan my 1989 originals and use the "Walt Disney World" bag as my Avatar on this site -- my TravelBlog uploads also include the bag for EPCOT Center and Disney-MGM Studios.
As of this posting, I earn no money or other compensation from my participation in this Forum, my website or my YouTube postings. Maybe one day that will change, but I say it in the name of full disclosure -- I am also a recently lapsed WDW Annual Park Hopper Passholder (because the last renewal was for 15 months rather than 12 months) and likely will be a passholder again, and I own shares in The Walt Disney Company (DIS).
